Using continuous curvy roads over the individual segments bordering the ground fertility makes it so that fields, burgage plots, pastures, or market zones "stick" to the road more.

Regarding fuel for your fletcher, I've just discovered in my testing that, like burgage plots, workplaces will only grab fuel from a storehouse if there are no market stalls with fuel available in the region. So rather than building a storehouse nearby, it would be better to build a tiny marketplace nearby.

A tip you can use for new towns is to not build burgages until you have food, firewood and clothing set up, because those penalties don’t kick in until homes are built. Until then it’s just a homelessness penalty which will stack.

That doesn't sound right - at least not at the highest difficulty. I'm pretty sure I've had the approval loss stack up before on it before the market was up. I used to build the houses first to get rid of homelessness, but it's nearly impossible to do without losing people. That's when I changed up the build order to get good, firewood and clothing up ASAP after the 1st house is built. I'll double check it, but I've done this difficulty setting like 10+ times now and I'm nearly 100% positive on this

@@StratPlaysI thought the same thing, based on your guides, until I watched Nivarias make it work on the hardest difficulty with highest negative approval penalty: kzitem.info/news/bejne/z6yJvKylsGeolYYsi=M2wgdsBFd3MCrR3F It’s not the market but the houses that make the penalties appear. I was wrong about ticking every month - it’s more frequent than that - but building burgages last definitely works.

recent patch allows 6 militia no matter what, independent of retinue. At least in the latest beta I played. I could even recruit mercenaries and reached a army size of 12. 6 levy, 4 retinues, 2 mercs. It was perfect for the final battle.

The problem with turning off bandits for difficulty is that the enemy lord uses the influence to expand. The actual hardest is to let them take all the bandits out and they will take over the map a lot faster.

Hardest settings are different from arbitrary gameplay handicaps. With your example you could impose another hundred gameplay handicaps and say "this is the actual hardest.... " Ect

Strat specifically said he was rigging the rules to make it as hard as possible, I'm just saying having bandits on the field is the harder option if you don't farm them. But yeah I guess you could frame it that way.

Not really because I can get to them much faster than the ai and they won't get the influence. I guess it would be harder if I just let the AI take all the bandits without contesting them? That would be a legit challenge

I haven’t been able to achieve lvl 3 homes yet because of the marketplace bug. The stalls are there, but the houses don’t acknowledge their existence. When the bugs aren’t happening I have a lot of fun with the game. Some of these bugs are like a brick wall.

Love this game and how you're helping the manor lords dev with bug fixing! I feel like 'family management' needs a bit of love can you look below at my thoughts and pass along if you agree? 1. when you assign families it grabs the first available family which from my tests is first in first out. this logic should sort by proximity to the selected workplace. (so we get the closest available family) 2. the ui that allows us to re assign families should also just have the option to just un-assign them 3. holding tab should have an indicator added to the home overlay indicating unassigned families

Hey, Ive been working on that 1Million treasury goal, I keep hitting a fatal error with big cities but seems like 80-110 (families) people is a perfect amount to mine/harvest/hunt a area dry and sell it for everything its worth. been great fun rerolling minmaxing every drip of money out of each zone.

Yeah that's a tough challenge! I just finished mine yesterday. I broke the game after 1200 pop and 5 towns. People and oxen would get stuck and do nothing, so money stopped coming in and food/ale stopped being produced. Wasn't able to get 1M, but it was a fun campaign!

@@StratPlays Yep same experience, market workers also bugged out in big towns 100 people stuck inside a hunter camp. I found lots of 80 pop towns maximising their labour, sometimes getting 6 talented points then deleting the tier 3s to go back to salve labour with all low lvl workers.

I had the same issue but around 1000 population in 2 towns. I’m only running a 3070ti. 😂 I started a new map and I’m going to keep the towns around 200-300 population and see if I can pull it off. So far I took 6 territories and am building towns in all of them at the same time. It’s a real challenge to min/max it all though. I have to play at 4x speed instead of 12x to keep up with it all.

My two cents: 55:30 I think this bugs out then you have houses under construction and fixes its self once they're built. Taxes seem best if you do it heavy for a month or two then back to 0. There's no penalty for going to a higher level village and deleting those lvl 2/3 plots afterwards. Long term 1 forester can supply huge town's timber/firewood/plank needs. (Once your expansion has slowed down). New towns on hardest difficulty: Ignore the starting supplies. Build -> Hunt/Tanner/Firewood/2hitching(+2cows), 3market stalls, 5 house, Church, Church level 2 then storage. 2:28:00 Beautiful fight / Idea, Imagine if you flanked the Barron with 4 squads of bandits.

What's the deal with aligning veggie plots with the map? Is it related to being able to put the house in a corner? Some times I find it difficult to get the layout right and sometimes it's trivial. Great videos by the way! Love all the decision making being explained, learned a lot from watching your videos

I'm not positive, but seems to have something to do with how the geometry of the plot vs geometry of the map orientation. If they line up, it works okay. If they don't, it's a mess lol

1:40:30 I've been doing some testing on production rates the past couple days, and in the process I noticed that blacksmiths and fletchers push out their weapons themselves, rather than letting storehouse workers pick them up. Tools, conversely, are allowed to accumulate and storehouse workers can pick them up. When the artisans export their weapon, they choose a storehouse without regard to whether that storehouse has the weapon allowed in the Advanced tab. I suppose that's because they're not assigned to that building. It seems to operate with similar rules to when I switch a worker's job, and they drop off whatever they're carrying at a random storehouse instead of finishing their task. Also, strangely, the artisans don't drop off at the nearest storehouse. My guess is that maybe they determine the storehouse based on build order? I can't be sure, though, without further testing. It's a big hit to productivity, unfortunately, to have those artisans walking individual bows across the map. I'm sure it's probably not the intended mechanic. On the other hand, this travel time may provide a reason to consider using duplexes &/or T3 plots for weapons makers... caveat: I've been doing my 0.7.965, which I think isn't the patch you had in this video? Not that I expect it to make a difference in this case. Oh, and I haven't tested the other artisans yet. Not sure which other artisan extensions may act in this way. The issue isn't restricted just to artisan extensions, though. Deep mines have a similar quirk. Storehouse workers are able to import Iron ore from a Mining pit, but they're unable to remove Iron ore from a Deep mine, so Deep mine workers have to push out the Iron ore themselves, kinda like the artisans do here. However, the Deep miners wait until their internal General storage hits 42 items before pushing out ore, while artisans push out much earlier. Though, wait, T2 artisans in a single plot have a small storage capacity, don't they? Now I wonder if they might also wait until they're approaching full before exporting, or if their Transportation task kicks in right when their Crafting task finishes. I'm gonna have to test some more.

at the lower feudal levels there are baronies, counties, and dukedoms. Are these territories in game baronies that combine to form a county, or are these counties and if you take the whole map you've got a dukedom? I'm guessing these are baronies, and the whole map is a county, but I'm not 100% sure. Managing individual burgage plots seems more like something a baron would do than a count or duke.

I don't think it goes that deep yet - it's just the name of the AI. He's a Baron, but Baron of off-map lands lol. If you take over more land, you just own more land. I would imagine that will change at some point and he'll add more to it!

The raiders where bugged in my first run. After about 3h the first raiders despawn and then respawn in my town with 7 buildings already burning, following a bug making someone always homeless 😢

If you have the trapping perk, yes. Otherwise, no. I usually put more than one down so I can quickly lower the population to the limit and then remove the workers to do something else. It's much harder to time it with a single worker that will take 2 months to reach the bottom vs 2 - 4 families that will hit the bottom in a few days. If you leave 1 family on it, they will sit idle a lot so you lose that efficiency (not a big deal though)

FYI, the tooltip says "connected to", not "on", easy to miss. It worked in 960 as well, did a bunch of testing on it.

@@MagnesiumSulfate Yep, even on live you don't need to place Trading Posts directly on the King's Road. You can place them anywhere and just connect to it with your own roads and still get trade routes/wandering traders visiting.

Yeah I've got a farming video to do once I know what changes are being kept. I have a 1M treasury challenge to post soon too, just wrapped up recording that yesterday. I think I'm done with Manor Lords after this month for a bit - back to Project Zomboid and KCD I think, maybe some Bannerlord. We'll see!

All of the videos on this channel are edited down about 50 - 60%, so more than half is usually edited out. I don't have any of the heavily edited stuff for Manor Lords yet because I don't think the game can support it (the amount of work vs views it would get). I would say if you can get through the first 2 episodes, you pretty much know how the rest will play out because it's the same thing, but on a bigger scale.
