That is great. I certainly wish the best for you. What I do not understand is how everyone praises Medicare. I am almost 69 and have been on Medicare *administered through* Blue Cross/BlueShield of Michigan. My wife and I pay, collectively, around $900 per quarter for Medicare, and yet, we *still* need to ration necessary doctors visits. WITH Medicare, I had my routine colonoscopy w/lab analysis, which STILL ends up costing me hundreds of dollars to the doctor, the medical facilities for the test, the lab test. Where does Medicare save us any money or anxiety? I go in for a yearly wellness check, and should expect a routine cardiogram once a year to be included in a wellness check, I get hammered for that extra cost in addition to wellness check co-pays/co-insuranace fees. I would hesitate to get an MRI if I needed to for fear it would cost me 400-500 dollars or more out-of-pocket. I really don't see where the benefits of Medicare lie; it certainly hasn't benn my experience. The only time I had good coverage--the coverage EVERYONE should have via a universal healthcare system--is when I was working full time and my employer _through our union bargaining_ had great coverage. We had low copays (20 dollars per office visit or less,), and if we need surgery, hospitalization or virtually any tests, they were call 100 percent covered by insurance. This is what we need from Medicare, something I am not getting by it.

Medicare ain't free and the problem is a lot of people think it is. First, the monthly premium is pretty steep and seniors are forced to buy supplemental policies to ensure comprehensive health coverage so you won't be bankrupted if you get really sick. Second, Medicare is being paid for by tax payers. You have a Medicare deduction taken out of every paycheck. Seniors on Medicare would say that they've been paying for their " free" health insurance their entire working life and continue to pay for it with expensive premiums.

Even developing countries have better health care systems, and all their people are covered by the public systems. There are usually private systems as well, that cost more, but often the smaller issues are paid out of pocket because they are quite cheap. A doctor appointment is around $40 to $50. Plus, the country I am in, often you contact doctors directly on WhatsApp, and they will often come to your house. Appointments are not rushed like in the states. Many prescriptions are available over the counter without prescriptions. The quality of care is quite good, but like in the states, you ask around for referrals to get the best ones. Is it perfect? No. But I’ll take it over tge states any day.

As Australians, we have enjoyed free access to hospital care since 1973. Everyone pays a small percentage of their income to the government for this privilege. We also have the option of paying a health insurance company for coverage of things like private rooms and to jump the waiting lists for operations, etc. Wealthy people who don't take this option also pay a surcharge to the government. It's not perfect, but overall, it works. And at least no one in Australia dies in the street or is buried in debt because they can't afford health insurance. It amazes me that half the population of the US could be convinced to vote against a system like this. Especially the very people that would directly benefit.

Universal Healthcare is a big commitment. Rich people don't want to pay the taxes required they'll invest in control of the government through lobby groups. You need to get rid of lobbying and raise taxes on the rich. Swimming upstream in America. Media would need to get on board.

I love listening to David Feldman while drinking my coffee in the morning. I am so happy about the free transcripts and wiĺl be purchasing some merch from th e store to keep this going. I believe David is the only commentator that actually lets us know we can email him if we can not afford to pay money to participate in the debate via zoom on June 27, 2024.

Between the weak and the strong, it is liberty that oppresses and it is the law that protects. My free transnationale of J.J. Rousseau. So republicans in name of liberty abolish regulations that protect the weak. The billionaires don´t need regulations they can buy protection.

That's brilliant, David! We have every right to question indecipherable medical bills. I didn't have insurance and had to pay for two CT scans out-of-pocket, at $1,300 each. When I had insurance and needed a CT scan, the hospital accepted $500 from the insurance company. What BS! They're killing us, one way or another.

As a retired 50 yr nurse I remember when I had my children when I got my bill I was shocked. As a nurse I knew immediately what I received and didn't receive. Yes they made it gd but I immediately thought about all the people who goes in and out and I realized how people were getting screwed and stolen from and that was 1970 this is why we see big fancy hospital's. It's the people who have paid for that. I am for Heath care for all

This is the first time I am watching your videos. It is refreshing to hear someone speaks using the type of language that shows the severity and honesty of what is and has been happening in America to Americans. If more of us speak up in this manner, we can generate the inner strength and vision necessary to turn things around.
