@@CLOUDKID11 This is my take, but what he means is to not react to others/communicate in a certain way just because that’s what you’ve always done. For example, until recently I was so attached to how I’ve always operated socially (reserved, quiet, stand offish, very introverted) that I didn’t give myself a chance to grow. I identified with those traits and ways of communicating so much that I didn’t challenge them, which likely has cost me some opportunities in my professional and personal life. So essentially, keep an open mind about who you are and keep trying to grow(:

Dude. I cannot even explain how correct you are. I was missing this, even though I usually know everything I'm attached to. Giving future me a chance would intuitively mean that the current me is not as great as possible. But then again, nobody is perfect.

Perfect advice. I actually had an encounter recently that i couldve totally used this advice for, however, sadly, ive only learned of it now. I keep to myself very well, however i met a girl on an aeroplane a few weeks ago when travelling, who happened to be from where i am from. She was breathtaking, and completely encapsulated my entire being, for the conversation that we had. It is relevant to this video, because i was so enveloped by her presence, that when we landed, she told me her first and surname, however i cannot remember it for the life of me. Mainly due to me being too attached to the presentence, and enjoying the moment too much, to consider how to play it best, for the future. I have never felt a connection like i did that day, ever before. I am now haunted by the inescapable feeling of never being able to find someone as compatible as her again.

One way to interpret this is be bold while communicating and emphasize on pitch and voice modulations, try different tones, make different hand and face gestures. Sometimes focussing on present, prevents us from doing so, may be thats what he means…

I could have used this quote back in highschool. I was known as the quiet kid and whenever I did speak, people became shocked, everyone just stopped and looked at me. I'd already been through 4 years so I accepted it and tried to stay quiet through my final year even though I had many times I wanted to speak. I figured that I could start a new identity once I leave. I could have used those communication skills.
