The way Astarion pauses when he's about to open up, as though he's debating it, but then he raises an eyebrow to be vulnerable in the hope of making you strong, great writing and brilliant acting. Also "you can worship your father's emissions in your own head" is both 😮 and 😂

I also was not sure if he will open up so much... but that also means that he trusts Tav... and after the DU scene night in act 2... he trusts Tav even more to start commenting like that about the urges and bhaal

Astarion's comment about how he was around for the Bhaalspawn saga over a century ago actually really got to me. O.o It made me realize that, while my (Gorion's) Ward was in Baldur's Gate having all of his adventures, cleaning up the city of evil-doers, thwarting the Iron Throne and ultimately besting Sarevok for the first time, Cazador was already established in the city. He already had his initial spawns, including Astarion, starting to prowl the city for victims. They were suffering in their cages under Cazador all that time and my Ward, for all of his nascent power and heroic deeds, was completely unable to help them. (This isn't news to me, of course. There's no way one single person can stop all of the evil in the world. But it was still a sobering thought.)

One person can stop them if they are THE hero :D and have all that plot armor you know 😅

I keep thinking that every time they talk about the fight against Sarevok, or when Halsin talks about the fight against Thorm a century ago. As horrific as Aylin's captivity was, she was there for roughly half the time Astarion was a captive under Cazador. The shadow curse happened while he was still chained up in the kennels, being tortured, and none of the heroes then could have known what was happening to people being taken off the streets of the city. It all seems ancient until you realize he's spent twice that time having his personhood stripped away and losing hope it will ever end.

I haven't seen half of this before. Thank you so much, Resonating Lo, as always!❤ I always liked that Astarion watches Durge sleep here, it looks like he cares. Although now I thought that maybe this was a precaution. But in the third act it's probably all about caring, hmm? And it's interesting how Astarion winces when Durge calls Bhaal - Father. I think he immediately draws parallels with his “father”. And he wants liberation for himself and for Durge.

I agree with all you say... his is not so much father , but master, but probably the association is the same. As for watching Tav/Durge sleep, I think that he does it because he loves them at this point in act 3, but also because vampires don't really sleep... SO all night he watches (over) us! 😊

@@resonatinglo Yes, true. Just Cazador told to his spawns “we are a family”, in between tortures(( So he is the father in this case. If I remember everything correctly. Whatever, Astarion's reaction is understandable

@@SmthngEff yup, he did tell his spawns that.

Is Astarion answering differently for some of the same lines Tav says? Is that dependent on Tav's approval score? I'm just curious. Eventually I want to play Durge. Also I find it funny that depending on the Tav line, Astarion is supportive in a sense but also it's like either You got this girl! Or Oooo yea carnage! 😂

I don't think that this convo is depending on approval. BUT to get the first answers you need to have being tied up on that night in act 2, which you only get with 80+ approval of him, so I guess it does depend, but not in the way you meant it 😅🖤🍷
