In a piece of music, we hear not only the concert pitch, but also so many different frequencies as melodies and chords. There are also so many overtones sounding at the same time. So it makes no sense to discuss whether a concert pitch has any meaning or not. If the frequency of 432 Hz really has a healing power, it must be played without any additional frequencies at all. For example, a sine wave contains no overtones. But a pure sine wave sounds really horrible...

Thank you for this video! Heard and seen enough of these 432 Hz music videos, but never cared too much about it, until I heard friends talking about this topic. It is always important to remember people, to think for themselves, not blindly believing what someone says. In modern times, with the use of Internet, it's even more important. So thank you! This can't be said enough!

Great lesson. I have also been experimenting with the difference between 432/440 Hz and didn't find one more or less aggressive than the other. I'm a music teacher and musician myself and had not fallen for the 432Hz "epiphany". The one note 432 Hz is changed so many times during a song, unless you play that tone all the time... I don't care what Hz your music is in, I enjoy your playing so much🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Thank you for your detailed comment! You are absolutely right. No piece of music can consist of only one frequency. So the hype of 432 Hz makes no sense. I was actually planning to use a pure sine wave of 432 Hz in the video. However, I removed it because I thought it was too brutal.... Now I see that some subscribers have dropped out because of this video. Maybe I should have used the sine wave after all....

@@NaoSogabe You are very welcome Master Sogabe. There are always some people who can't stand to be corrected on their believes. I feel a stronger connection now, after your lecture. Yeah it would have been great to use the 432 Hz tone. I wish you a great week ahead🙏🙏🙏

I saw you had lost some subscribers after this video, so I wanted to leave this comment in contrast. I came for and enjoyed the sleep music video, got curious after looking at your list of channel videos and ended up watching this fascinating video. I hadn’t heard about the 432 vs 440 issue, but your logical, reasonable, and historical presentation convinced me. I was therefore very confused when I found the second, “440 hz” music clip, more relaxing, and so relieved to find out your surprise. Reason wins the day! Anyway, you have earned my subscription, even without a horrible sine wave. Thank you for the wise words and education as well as the beautiful music! Now, back to the sleep music…

I play the baroque lute--tuned to 414 Hz. If I tuned it to 432 Hz, it would be destroyed. The pegs would snap and the neck would fold up and unmarried dogs and cats would be cohabitating!

As I said in the video, if you like any music created at 432 Hz, it's not the pitch that does you well, but the good artistic quality of this music. I'm sure there is also music on 432 Hz with excellent artistic quality.

It seems to be that a marker of disinformation is its often simplifying appearance. Believing is easy but understanding goes a long with rethinking and doing research wich is often considered to be unconvinient and therefore unpopular. Thank you for your honesty not too much people call to countercheck and say that oneself is not an exception in terms of being manipulative and spreading wrong information.

Thank you! At last someone that is knowing what he is talking about! 👏👏👏 people involved in ancient instruments know that this topic is very complex, cause the pitch is always "in relation" with many other things...the "absolute right frequence" does not mean anythings, but many platforms of "spirituality and healings" sell every kind of bullshits. Thank for your clarity and your music!❤

It seems that KZitem is responding to the critical posts about 432 Hz from KZitemrs and myself. They started to take concrete action to prevent users from being harmed by the fraudulent posts. It's a positive development :-)

adjust scale tuning to resonate with the song, the scale and the instrument. I feel its better to let the harmonic timbre match the scale (as a electronic musician its v important for me ). The way the harmonics stack (in the listening space) determines consonance or dissonance. I have found that JI doesnt always "fit" - particularly bells containing odd harmonics (gamelan). Some compositions require tonal shifts in their musical pivots this is particularly noticable for me in large note scales like 53tet and fretless - im learning to retune on the fly which is actually quite fascinating. The other thing is attention (which is, after all meditation), adjusting chromatic scale anywhere but A440hz has a non-conforming effect on the listener as most are saturated with 12TET scalings. Anyone who works in "unusual" scales will tell you that it takes a while to adjust the ear to a scale, for me making alternate scales music is about having an open mind. As i have become more used to, it takes less time to adjust to a new scale, and the practice of attention becomes more melded into the compositional process.

@@NaoSogabe Yes. concert pitch and scaling become very fluidly intertwined when frets and midi are removed, my point is - unusual scale OR concert pitch for me at least can initiate self reflection. Personally i no longer distinguish between CP and tunings, its all really one system.

@rays7805

Another fun way to do this would be to set A FLAT to 432. According to the pseudoscience, the important thing is that we have a scale where 432 Hz appears SOMEWHERE, right? Because they say A should be 432 Hz, but they say nothing about what KEY the song should be in. So, we could speed the music UP, and then say that A was 432 but the key of the song was raised by one semitone, or we could say that A flat was 432 Hz and the key was the same, and there would be effectively no difference. And we could truthfully say that we had a scale based around 432 Hz instead of 440, but have the overall pitch of the music be higher instead of lower, and see how people felt about it.

The weird thing is that most of the notes in the 12-TET scale lies at a nice relaxed resonance when I tune my A to 432Hz compared to 440Hz.. Former European pitch at 435Hz (C5=517.3Hz) has a nice balance between upbeat and grounded.. I tried 430Hz and the notes in my chest range start to sit a little to deep... Both the Paris and Vienna opera houses were using 434Hz in 1835.. A really great pitch for A4 I find with 12-TET... This gives a C5 of 516Hz..
@NaoSogabe

The whole history with pitch is purely a matter of Western countries after 19th century. Before that it was unimportant in the whole world. And outside the Western culture - Japan too - it is simply unimportant.

Fascinating re Paris and Vienna Opera houses. I’ve always wondered about how difficult it might be for someone with perfect pitch to try to sing/play/listen to others who are using a different system. Can you imagine going from one opera house to a different one and trying to sing a different pitch from what you’ve always heard/trained your voice in?
