I've been through the SIG series (XL, XMacro, XTen) and the Springfield Series (HC, HCP, XDM 10) and have gone back full circle back to my 43, 43X, 48, 17, 19, 20, 29. I still have my Walther PDP-F and H&K VP9SK too. But my SIGS are GONE (Shake to Shoot (XL), Rust Bucket (XMacro), and way too 'floppy' trigger (XTen) are gone. My Springfield's are gone too. They weren't bad by any means, just not for me. 43 with +2 MagGuts, 43X/48 with PSA MD Mags, are now my go to for EDC. The rest I have for Home Defense/Winter Carry/Woods Carry. It's nice and efficient to maintain the same platform across all carry calibers and scenarios.

Moral of the story: consider all your options before buying! So many great options out there. People gotta get their hands on guns and try them out, then they’ll really know which is best for them. I bought a Shield Plus recently, great gun, ironically I shoot my G26 better. Some range time would probably fix that up. Always eyeing a G43x, or maybe a G42 for a pocket carry option.

One of the things about some parts of our community that kinda... rubs me wrong... is when a new shooter wants advice on what they should buy. "Get a Glock!" "Glock 19!" "Shield Plus!" That _automatic response_ The one that doesn't ask what the shooter is wanting the weapon for. What roles it will play. How big or small they're looking for. Or the _common sense_ advice (yeah OUR side can use that phrase too!) of "Let's go down to the store, and see what FEELS good for you".
@chasedooley6237

@@user-dq9pq8uv4e Yup. People get the impression that what works for them will work for anyone. Not necessarily so. And you’re doing anyone a disservice if you just offer default advice. It’s like the old adage: Give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he’ll eat for a lifetime. We should be teaching new shooters what to look for in a gun, that would help them more than any review or suggestion. As a relatively new shooter myself, that kind of advice would’ve been much more helpful. There’s so much information out there now that it’s easy to become overwhelmed and greatly confused.

I’ve got two 43Xs. Not perfect but Glock is the one gun maker to whom I never had to return a pistol to the factory for some reason or another. Granted I was a Glock armorer and used to keep springs fresh and could fix minor things. While locking blocks used to break on Gen 3 40s, never had any problems with a 9 or 45. The Masada might be built like a tank and hold up well. I can’t tell someone why they should or shouldn’t buy a particular handgun. I can defend Glocks based on experience. BTW tried a Johnny Glocks OEM flat face trigger shoe on one, and the regular “smoothed” OEM on another. Doesn’t alter the trigger press weight but is so much easier than that axe blade of a factory trigger shoe…. Anyway, great presentation. Hope to hear verify on the Dagger mags.

I'm not saying that you should do this. I'm not recommending that you do this. But I am saying, that Kydex is *easily* alterable. A hair dryer or heat gun on it until it starts to get soft enough to bend, and then just slide the pistol into it, to fix a problem. Leave it in there til the kydex cools down completely, and then you have a holster that fits. This of course, only with holsters that *pretty much* fit already.

I like my 43x's, but I usually don't carry them with the 10rd Glock mags, specifically because I have other guns that are the same size, but have more capacity. I'll carry my Hellcat Pro with either 15 or 17rd stock magazines, or the newest gun I bought, the Masada Slim, which has the 13rd magazines. In addition, I received in the mail today my 2 Jericho 17rd magazines which work in the Masada Slim, so I now will carry the Masada Slim with 17rd backup mags. As for holster support for the Masada, it fits in the same Sticky pocket holsters I'm already using for my 43x, Hellcats, Shield plus, 365's, CR920, GX4, etc.

I've carried a Bersa Thunder, HK VP9sk, and Walther p99sc in sticky holsters. All three of which were extremely comfortable to wear in them. I love the versatility of them. Don't have to worry about right/left hand, don't have to worry about cant/angle, height/depth, you just put it where you want it, how you want it. The only thing, which... is subjective... is the trigger protection. To me. I ended up putting an extra layer of neoprene around the trigger area part of the holster, just to make sure. I will say tho, that as far as IWB goes, I wouldn't want to go on a roller coaster ride with it as my primary holster. 😆 The retention is "pretty good" but I wouldn't wanna go upside down. 🤣
