i was part of their support team that got laid off. We were top in customer service for 25 yrs. When Samsung bought out Harman, Digitech was left to die on the vine. The new owners are trying to resurrect the brand, but they'll never replace the dedicated people who worked hard there and got tossed aside.

Oh wow. I’m so sorry to hear that. Yeah, based on my experience before, you all were incredible. That’s why I wanted to shout that out in the video even though it was kind of off topic - just to give credit where it’s due. Thank you.

Honestly That's why I always buy warranty from a distributor and don't buy directly from companies. Ive had to use my warranty for some Products from both GC and Sweetwater. One was a with Ditech product in GC during 2022 and although i wasn't able to get the same pedal i was able to get my money back. I would recommend doing the same cuss in the end of the day if the company goes under you can at least get your money back with the warranty. Just make sure to buy the warranty again once it expires.

The Digitech Trio + is one of my favourite ever pedals. If it broke I’d be gutted, I also have some of the JamMan looper stuff. In my opinion Digitech have some great “properties”, shame that the support doesn’t seem to be there now. Informative video, thanks for taking the time to share 👌👍

The old JamMan looper (when it still had big Boss style switches) was maybe the fourth pedal I ever bought. I still miss that thing.

What we should be doing is fix this as a community bypassing Digitech. What part failed? Maybe it can be sourced without involving Digitech. Line6 are similarly bad, especially the DL4. They are starting to fail and you can't really get much help.

Considering what happened to Digitech & left on the back burner is sad. My drop pedal still works but I remember getting help from Digitech with their other products before.

As the saying goes, don't throw out the baby with the bath water. I own two Digitech GSP 1101 guitar preamps along with an RP1000, RP500, and RP 355. All of them work fine. I've only had one minor problem with one of the GSP 1101s and that was easily repaired at a local shop.

Damn! My drummer has the same pedal that is also a paperweight now! I've been wanting to get the Whammy DT Pitch Shift Drop Tune, but definitely not paying those prices for a glorified paperweight! Thanks for the heads up and so sorry that happened to you.

I work in a music store. We haven't had an electronics tech in 10 years and we don't really carry many pedals, amps or PAs. We get a steady stream of people coming in looking for warranty work, sometimes from companies we may have dealt with 20 years ago. I havev personally bought new products only to have them fail in the first week. This is usually followed up by finding out the warranty is useless. It's not just one brand.

I think the problem really is, that your pedal is a digital processor. If it was an all analog pedal, probably it could have been repaired easier. In my personal opinion, instead of throwing 240 bucks on a pedal to artificially lower your guitar tone, just get another used squier or something equivalent. For 240 bucks you can get a decent guitar nowadays, which will work for songs in different tunings easily when you’re gigging or recording. Especially when recording I feel weird digitally lowering my tuning, because I have open headphones and I can still hear the wrong notes in standard tuning ringing through. Also live it‘s nicer to have a guitar in the actual tuning, because amp feedback and interaction works better, if the string resonance and the speaker resonance really match in pitch… imo weird pedal, I get that it‘s useful, but not my cup of tea at all. It destroys literally the reason to get more guitars and we guitarists always ALWAYS need more guitars :D it makes the gear gods mad I believe to own stuff like this. Sorry to have to deal with nasty customer service, that‘s always annoying.

Yeah since this broke I've gone to just bringing a lower guitar if needed and then capo'ing it up for the other songs. Playing an actual different-tuned guitar is extremely preferable to using a pedal, sound wise, for sure.

NGL my tubescreamer did that as well. Turns out the washer under the footswitch was cracked and I just put a metal washer under it, fine ever since. I lucked out HARD there.

If mine breaks I’m just gonna go back to bringing more guitars to every gig. I was ok bringing 4 or 5 guitars, my band made me buy this pedal. I don’t care for what it does to the tone, especially because the rest of my rig is analog , it sounds extra digital

Yeah the Drop has fewer artifacts than others I’ve tried but it is nowhere near the sound of the unaffected guitar. Digital is a good way to put it.

Why don't you try and see if you could get a schematic on your pedal. Their are all kinds of circuits on the internet now. it's quite possible you might be able to find circuit and fix it yourself. It could be something simple like a loose wire or something. Or something came loose!

As someone who troubleshoots electronics, its tough without a schematic, and manufactures never let us see them. Peavey had to move to china and piss people off to leak the schematic for my amp. I was lucky there. As for the digitech pedal. Having a second known good circuit could help. But it would come down to a point by point comparison and looking for differences. Its not ideal, and would take a lot of time…more than 250$ of my time at least. At that point, buy a new pedal

Don't you know any musicians that work on their own instruments that could take a look at it? sounds like the shop you took it to knows whats wrong with it so hopefully it's an easy repair. I would be happy to take a look at it for a beer or two if I was local.

Someone else mentioned this already but I think the issue is that it's a digital device. I know lots of folks who can build/repair their own analog pedals but I think this sort of thing is more complex.

Digitech has been Walmart disposable quality for at least 25 years. How are we surprised by this and why are we acting like this is some boutique gear?

@@LeFeversAudio don't get me wrong, I don't condone it. It would be great if more manufacturers stood behind the quality and longevity of their products. Historically digitech has been much like behringer - proveyors of discount products built with cheap components. To me they are defined by their rp series multi effect units in all their plastic glory. I have fond memories of using that stuff back in the day, but we knew what we were getting and were more surprised when there WASN'T an issue.

@bleakapathy this was the exact reason I bought digitech early to mid 90's as a teen just starting out, they were cheaper than boss and I couldn't afford boss. Very few dod pedals I actually liked the sound of. Hated their distortion but I bought a dod chorus used around 93 and it still works, beat up pretty bad but works.

They all use the same capacitors. Electrolytic capacitors all go bad after a period of time. The word for it is planned obsolescence. And it's going to happen to everything electronic. You really should look into it. I'm not saying that's is what is going on here, but I'd put my money in the caps. But it doesn't matter what you have, caps have a shelf life. You can find all kinds of KZitem channels of guys who do nothing but change caps on boards 20. Years and older. Watched one yesterday of a guy changing all the caps on a Pioneer gaming system made to work with those old laser disc players. With this, it's either bad caps, bad soldering, or something that can be changed. It happens. Because it happened to his or a couple people commenting here, doesn't mean it's happening to everyone. But the time will come, when it does. That's true for everything. People have boss pedals that go bad also.

My FX-65 from 1985 still works great. TSR-24 from 1994, still works great. GSP-7, GSP2101, RP-5, RP-100, GSP-1101, RP-360, all still working. I dont think I have actually ever had a Digitech or DOD product fail. But if it did, I'd fix it myself lmao
