I Failed My First Job Interview
Today I will tell you a story about my first job interview, which I completely failed.
My name is Alice.
Today I have a good job in a corporation.
But I remember my first job interview.
I was very excited.
I wanted to work at a big company.
The job was in a nice office.
I thought it was a perfect job for me.
I prepared a lot for the interview.
I read about the company.
I practiced my answers.
I even chose my best clothes.
I wanted to look smart and professional.
I was a little nervous but also hopeful.
The day of the interview arrived.
I went to the office.
It was very big and beautiful.
I met the interviewer.
He was a kind man with glasses.
He smiled and shook my hand.
I felt a bit more relaxed.
The interviewer started with the first question.
He asked about my previous work experience.
I told him about my part-time job at a cafe.
I said I worked hard and learned a lot.
But then he asked about my computer skills.
I felt nervous again.
I remembered my resume.
I wrote that I was good with computers.
But the truth was, I was not very good.
The interviewer asked if I knew how to use a special program.
I did not know much about it.
I felt scared and panicked.
I decided to lie.
“Yes, I know that program well,” I said.
The interviewer looked at me.
He asked more questions about the program.
I tried to answer, but I was confused.
I knew I made a big mistake.
The interviewer noticed my confusion.
He asked if I was sure about my skills.
I felt my face turn red.
I confessed that I did not know the program.
The interviewer sighed and looked disappointed.
He told me that honesty is very important.
He said it is better to be truthful about my skills.
I felt very sad and embarrassed.
He said "Unfortunately we cannot accept you".
I started crying and ran out.
I left the office feeling bad.
I thought about what happened.
I learned a big lesson that day.
It is important to be honest.
It is okay not to know everything.
Next time, I was honest.
I prepared better and didn't lie on my CV.
This experience taught me a lot.
Today I have a good job, and I think this situation taught me a lot.
