Great lesson! I'd love to see you do a full cover of this song. There are lots of cool lead phrases during the verses.

Fantastic tutorial. Buck Dharma certainly gets everything out of each note, it seems... The background polyrhythm is EPIC!

Excellent video re an excellent piece of music. BTW admire continued SG . I have the same model and color! Though I'm thinking I would like to try this solo with a casino a la Gary Clark Jr. Thx again, 5 star.

that was horribly explained, especially on the second part of the solo, did this guy just get all his friends to say good comments about this?

Thanks that was excellent I’ve been wanting to try to learn that after watching an interview with Rick Biato which is so cool! you can tell he can 6:47 go on and on seamlessly . Buck has a natural talent very few can match and he claims he can’t read music but he sure understands it. I always liked BOC songs like Cities on Flamas and if you ever put out a vid on that I’m gonna watch it. It’s a little hard for me to see exactly which notes you’re on and I don’t know them by name but I should. And Its easier for me to understand when the notes are referenced with like high E-12, G-16, B-14 etc….if you could say it both ways it would be helpful but I’m watching either way!✌🏼

Thanks for the input! Yes I've never done a lesson on this. But I guess I should and I'll keep your comments in mind for when I can. Thanks
what scale is this solo played in? it sounds like Phrygian dominant

I don't know. I don't pay attention to modes. I never have. it does shift back and forth between two scales I just can't remember which they are right now. But yes a very strange solo indeed

SGRox - playguitarsolos that’s probably smart I feel like mode thinking playing can sometimes lead to mechanical playing

I agree. I can't help but think of the names of the notes when I play them, and so often it takes away my creativity. It's best if I don't pick up my guitar a couple weeks, and then just start playing without trying to think of anything. :)

It mainly uses the F Aeolian scale (F minor scale) with added notes to outline the chord changes. The added chromaticism when changing chords makes the solo really interesting.

Small correction. It is actually F Dorian instead of Aeolian as it uses a raised 6th.
