I take my 8yr old son fishing and as much as he likes trying to catch a bass, he gets bored and wants to go back to slamming bluegill. On the little suburban ponds, there will be monster schools of small sunfish which makes it easy for him to get bit. But what I love are those dark shadows lurking around the edges of those same schools. You will see a big ole greenish-silver flash through the middle of the swarm, but those bass actually become hard to catch. I think its a case of the real meal being so easy, they ignore any sort of lure. Just bought a few bags of these and am looking forward to giving them a try. Appreciate you taking the time to explain the rigging. Also, am a huge fan of your podcasts. Keep up the good work!

I gotta try the screw lock I've just been using a ewg and I'm having issues with tearing around the nose I've found for me I like a1/32 nail weight on that 110 when I side rig keeps it running perfect even when I'm burning her over grass. Thank you for the awesome tips brother as always I greatly appreciate it 👍🏻👊🏻💯🎣🇺🇸

I was so excited about this bait when it was first announced. But now that I find out you have to do some voodoo spells on them so they run right, eh. I have the mid-size. All I wanted to do was rig it weedless and be able to fish it around/thru cover.

Great advice! I have my first ever Gilly baits coming today! Just heard of these baits. Great to know different ways to rig them. My fishing areas are all loaded with bluegill, so I'm pretty excited to try this out! Also the areas are smallish, so the fish are also smaller (mostly!) so I got the 90 to start with -- glad to hear you like that size! Tight lines! Roger, the Smiling BassHole

I got these early on. I'm super skeptical of the nose hook method with so much for the fish to grab without even getting the hook. I like the bait, but it makes me nervous how soft these are. I've torn these up just trying to rig them (different rigging). Just my opinion, and it may not be worth much, lol.

I almost don’t want to say anything but , 110mm with a 0/3 EWG hook with a treble hook ring in the eye of hook . Put 1/8-1/4 oz nail weight long ways in belly and hook gilly sideways or in the I think it’s the 30 degree downward position. I like the 30 degree downward position myself. 7lb crush it and a 4lb the other day. Has a 6lb follow it and I miss the bite. 110 to me is the perfect size for all size fish.

Great video brother. Tricks I’ve done is using a screw loc spring through the nose so I don’t rip the lips out of the gills. Next line through with small treble swims flawlessly. Adjust neko weight according to depth and rate of fall you want. I’ve also seen a buddy do good fishing on beds rigging with a weighted wacky hook with weed guard.

So I bought the smallest version and honestly I got so frustrated with it that I just gave up. I had a two ot hook and it worked great in my pool but as soon as I got to the lake it just didn’t work. I think I may of had a reel that was too fast because half the time it wouldn’t swim right and half the time it just wouldn’t sink. It’s a cool bait but they should of put the nail weight in it from the beginning. Personally I probably won’t fish with them anymore (which stinks because they were expensive) but it’s a cool bait. Maybe I’ll give them a try in the future but right now it’s a no go from me.

I just got a pack of 90mm pumpkinseed color baits. I fished them yesterday but I didn't get bit the whole time. I did see a couple run towards at the bait but changed their mind kinda action. I'm trying putting a screw lock in the nose and run a 1/0 drop shot hook through the middle of the screwlock then right up & out of the nose like a dropshot. If you insert a Neko weight threw the bottom of the lower jaw you can get better control and full body swim action. I was catching more fish with a worm so I put down the Gilly. When bass go into schooling here real soon, I bet I can get some great action throwing it with a little bit of weight to keep the head going downwards. I only got the 90mm versions is because I'm looking for that particular size in the early springe. That size is chased alot more here than the bigger size.
