I can't agree with you more on the breathtaking beauty of Vietnam, especially the North East. I experienced a luxury cruise on Ha Long Bay in March 2019 and honestly, can't wait to go back to that paradise. I definitely enjoyed kayaking the most. After watching this video, I wanna go to Lan Ha Bay. Thanks for your insights. :)

This is the one! This is my favorite of all your international travel videos. The scenery is... the most incredible I've ever seen. (Just had to put it up on the big screen. The cinematography was such that it looks as if it was from some scenic designer's dream of Pandora from Avatar. Just breath-taking.) It sounded like a stellar list of activities. But the chillin' with good friends under the stars ... what a wonderful end to the day. I doubt I'll ever get to this corner of the world. Thank you SO much for sharing it with me. 🙂🥹

We did a 3 day-2 nights trip on a "luxury" boat called the Aquamarine. This was during the 2nd week of March. It wasn't crowded at all. Maybe crowd size depends on the season? 1st day was spent traveling to the island location, then took a small boat to an amazing cave tour. Spent a couple hours there, then took a short boat ride to a small beach area, which was kind of meh.... the 2nd day was amazing, one of the best days of my life. Took a small boat ride about 1.5 hrs to Lan Ha Bay, where we visited an oyster/pearl farm (interesting), and then another boat ride to an area for kayaking through the islands, grottos.... then off to a secluded beach where we anchored about 50 meters from the beach, and spent the next couple of hours swimming around the boat amongst the islands (so beautiful, unforgettable), swimming to the beach and back.... 3rd day was spent with more kayaking, saw some mountain climbing monkeys putting on a show for us.... My tour included a well prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner, and free transportation to and from our hotel in Hanoi. The bus was spacious with strong AC. The cruise ship itself was top-notch, I loved having our own room with jacuzzi, private balcony, massive windows for the most beautiful views while relaxing in the room. Only $175 per day, which seems like a pretty good deal to me....

I've been to Ha Long Bay 3 times (once by my self and twice with friends) and to Lan Ha Bay twice as a couple. Cat Ba City is low key and Lan Ha Bay is easily accessible from there. If you decide to by pass Hanoi (Why?) look at flights to Hai Phong to and from other cities in SouthEast Asia, and travel to and from Cat Ba that way.

Wow, that is WAY more boats in Ha Long Bay than when I visited, but that was like 20 years ago now. !!! Our boat motor actually broke and it was awhile before another boat came along. I don’t remember an overnight cruise option. Guess I gotta go back and visit Lan Ha Bay! Anyone can make spring rolls! I used to facilitate kids cooking classes and those were always popular. Trick is to not overstuff (which is a difficult concept for 8-12 year olds). 🥟

Hey dude, loved the video! I have a few questions, because honestly your adventure looks like exactly what we want to do on our trip in a couple months, so hopefully this isn't annoying! But here it goes. It looks like the cruise you took takes off from Cat Ba island, is that right? If not, where did you get on, and if so, how did you get from your first stay over to Cat Ba in time? Did you see anything in Hanoi that you would recommend? If we have young children (ages 1.5 and 3) coming with us, would you still recommend the cruise? Did the cruise you took have insurance for if it had to be cancelled due to weather? Thank you so much and great video!
@30AndAWakeUp

Yep...left from Cat Ba island. Took a ferry from Ha Long city to Cat Ba to catch our boat. I spent a month in Hanoi...love the place. My favorite meal in Hanoi was from a place called Bun Bo Nam Bo Bach Phuong. I highly recommend taking a food tour - you can find lots of them on Airbnb experiences. Hmmm....not sure about the cruise with young children or at least not the one I did. I get one of the fancier ones or the kids will probably be pretty uncomfortable. Im not sure if the cruise had insurance to be honest. Hope that answers all your questions.

Hi Mitchell, I am working as a tourguide in Ha Long bay. I am just watching videos in my free time, but then I saw your questions and I wanna leave some reviews as a local's tips. 1: relaxing in both bays is fine for kids. Bit if you're interested in more active activities, such as: climbing, trekking, cycling, kayaking... you should have something to hold your children. (My youngest tourist is 9 months old, his parents did all the activities although it takes longer time than others, but they did enjoyed). And I never heard of children insurance from the travel agencies, but where I m working they buy the ticket sọt insurance for all customers during the tour. 2: you could easily go to both bay from just Tuan Chau island. But sometimes due to the bad weather or strong wind, the ferry causes some tiredness for children when transfer between Ha Long - Cat Bà 3: last but not least, if you don't want to spend too much time to book all things (ferry, hotel, boat, cycle...) one by one, you can choose some cpmpanies doing connecting tour. Means they will bring you to Ha Long then transfer you directly by boat from there to Cat Ba. For example my company Vega travel has one 3 days 2 nights tour that full package from Hanoi. And ofcourse, your baby is free :)))) Btw, if you could visit here in Mar, it would warmer then Feb (now is ~~15- 18 degree)
