Thank you for this fresh take on finding passion in a career. I'm nearing the end of my career and have never enjoyed it. Your message gives me hope to change that before I retire.

Amazing work you are doing here. This channel has so much value to offer and answers most of my questions not just about opthalmology but also generally about residency. ❤️

I wish I had seen this earlier!! I was so fascinated by ophthalm that I took it only to realise later that I am not actually into surgery and the idea of taking one craft and perfecting it. Nevertheless it was a great learning experience 😊

Really enjoyed your video. Have you ever had burnout moments? Could you share a bit more about how you got through them? Also could you also give tips on time management as a resident? Thank you!

Hi! Thanks. Yes. I think most doctors go through that at some point, especially in residency. Here’s a video I made about it: kzitem.info/news/bejne/open2ZuFip6FoW0

Do you recommend using a loup for developing stereopsis, as in does it help in developing stereopsis
@doctoreyeballmd7493
2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it contributes to that. Ophthalmologists should have stereopsis to begin with. The loupes are primarily for magnification.

Doctor, Is studying ophthalmology during medical school (in my country we have 6 - 8 weeks rotation of ophthalmology during med school) different from studying it in details in residency and the rest of the speciality later on according to interest? In med school, they just taught us basics of diseases of different branches of ophthalmology, Cornea, Lens, retina, glaucomas... Etc but i really didn't enjoy it and found it not interesting plus the way of the exams wasn't really good so I think I will never choose ophthalmology specialty if i had a chance after med school but someone told me the specialty itself and clinical work later will be different from the undergraduate study you got and will be interesting... Etc so I shouldn't judge now!! Sorry for the long question,but I'm really interested in knowing your opinion and if you had a similar experience Thank you ❤️

Hi, good question. I’m not sure exactly the details of your medical schools ophthalmology curriculum but I will say that actual practice and doing the surgeries is vastly different than anything they teach you in medical school. It’s an incredibly fun specialty. I wouldn’t let the short amount that you get taught about it in medical school completely turn you off of it.

Cool video... Would i bee too old for ophthif I start ophth residency at 30?

Of course not. Age doesn't mean anything in medicine, later you start it may be even better because you will know what you want due to maturity of your mindset.

No, you wouldn’t be too old. I’ve met people in their mid 40s in residency and even had a classmate in medical school close to 50.

hi doc, can med students attend international medical conferences ?
@doctoreyeballmd7493

I suppose it would depend on the conference. But my guess is probably so. I can’t say I’ve ever personally been to an international conference though. Definitely worth contacting the conference your interested in and asking.

Awful pseudo advice. I’m so glad I quit the jobs I’m not passionate about. Money isn’t everything.
