I feel like this sketch was inspired by the usual insult angry drivers yell at each other during road rage "Don't you know how to drive?!" Tim followed the what if scenario of someone genuinely answering that question "no"

This is such a great way of describing this scene and the show in general. I read that Tim got some dialogue ideas from just listening to children talk, like the line “I don’t know how I can hear anymore about tables,” from this season. Such a brilliant mixing of the infantile in a literal sense and then in the metaphoric retreating into fantasy as a way of coping with normal anxieties and a loss of control/meaning.

@@LordOfDhara well tbf i like both shows but yea itysl is consistently much better You have to also take into account tho that snl only has a week to write their sketches and the host gets to pick which ones are in it so really a lot of the quality of each episode depends on the host's sense of humor. When writers have time to plan out their sketches in advance like itysl its almost always gonna be consistently better

How did he end up alone in the drivers seat when he does not know how to drive? Who left him? Where did they go? Why is he trying to leave if someone left him alone in the car? What this show does best is present back to us the little mundane moments of our lives. The awkward jokes at a meeting or a party, how we get mad in parking lots, how we resent someone for eating more of the “good chips”. It’s what anchors the wackiness, and what makes it spectacular
