Hi Ben. I think it worked out good to start that saw up. Probably better to get some of that moisture out when it runs, rather than let it seep deeper. Maybe Echo should use you as a testimonial - "My saw fell in a lake and still ran just minutes later!". :)

Brother as much firewood as you cut you don’t need to measure every cut before you do it. Making a lot of extra work!! Youre good enough to eyeball it and get good sized pieces

Probably so but I just get aggravated with odd lengths. I still end up with few way long or short even when measuring. Just too many variables involved with firewood. It’s just one of those things I do to keep my product better than the next guy.

@@OGAOutdoors You have a community of KZitemrs and manufacturers with an interest in firewood production. How would you describe these people? They are in a similar social and racial class. Moderate education level. Your parents or grandparents were rural, armed, Christian racists. The name of one channel is Back 40. I have the same ancestral background. One section of land is one mile by one mile which is 640 acres. A quarter section is 1/2 mile by 1/2 mile and is 160 acres. One-quarter of one quarter is 40 acres. You-all are living on the fumes of the culture you came from. We are living in chaotic, uncertain and distressing times. The revolutionaries are thrilled with the prospect of victory. Civilization is about to be annihilated or reborn. Firewood is probably a good investment for energy security. If you keep it inside, it will give you protection easily for 20 years or more. That is if you do not get evicted. P.S. Return to your roots and be a counter-revolutionary. See the Wranglerstar short. He does not want his children fighting in any Middle East war.

There is a reason tree service charges so much it's not an easy job plus having to deal with the brush makes it even harder if you can't burn it there
@OGAOutdoors
Жыл бұрын
For sure it is a tough job. Even burning brush is still a lot of work. I have removed some that were close just for the wood but I didn’t touch the brush.

I heard you say you were paid for that job plus you scored the hickory firewood. How much were you paid and how do you figure what to charge? Curious because I’ve done many similar jobs but have no idea what they could be worth.
@OGAOutdoors
Жыл бұрын
I was paid $150 for removing this tree. I don’t really have a method for charging it was just what I was comfortable charging this customer. I’m sure I could have gotten more but I’m happy with it. It was really close to my house so it was easy. If it’s close by and really good wood I’m happy with enough to cover expenses and a little extra. I’ve cut several just for the wood but in those cases I don’t touch the brush. Not a lot of help but in this case I would have charged less if I didn’t have to make the brush go away.

When you started it up after being dunked, I could hear Chickanic screaming NNNNOOOOOOO!!!!! If it sucked water into the air intake, the engine could've been destroyed. (water is not compressable) I've been in the same boat. since everyone knows I burn wood, have saws, a truck, and cut my own whenever possible- I get "offers" of "free wood!!" if I take down this tree or that for them, lol. A.) I'm not an arborist. I'm not trained, certified, or insured. I'm just a guy with a saw. B) My experience of taking down trees, is limited to ONE, lol. An apple tree. and C) I can get all the free wood I want cutting up the already downed and chunked up trees in several places where it gets dumped. That Apple tree taught me a valuable lesson about urban tree work- how much back breaking labor is involved, and how easy it is to screw it up. I didn't drop any limbs or a trunk on anything, but it was close, lol. Great wood- but the majority of the tree was brush, and had a million apples on it. All of which had to be hauled by hand around front... I also discovered that I'd forgotten my hard hat, by getting beaned in the noggin by a few apples. All for about half a facecord of usable wood. (much of it in chunks and gnarly crotches) It was for a friend, which is why I agreed to do it. MUCH easier to go to the Village or Town highway Dept dumps. Lots of hard maple and Ash to be had there!

I think the saw will be okay or at least it was the last time I used it. I wish I had an apple tree I could sell it for a huge profit I think. I have tons of requests for apple just not much in my area. Hope you survived all the apple injuries lol. Thanks for watching and stopping by.
