We miss you, Dr. Glasser. Thanks for all that you did for so many people all over the world. Your Choice Theory changed MY life as I'm sure it did for many others.

I love that Dr. Glasser emphasizes his individualism- not to be boxed by a degree or psychoanalytic society/ organization. Great vid RR

I am a lost child. Very good points however I have been very hurt and abused by parents who blamed me for everything and accepted no responsible for their actions. Add psychiatrists and disabling medications. I am now 66 and tried to get help from professionals my whole life. What happened to Do no harm? I feel the psychiatric system is a scam. Best of luck to you.

I believe there is such a thing as mental health and that you can teach it to others. Revolutionary!! I'm so glad this is more accepted today

Dear Dr. Glasser....Your Reality Therapy changed my life and gave me a personal grounding when I worked with children at Roper Hall Home in the early 70's. I went on to change my career choice from business to social and health services through volunteers organizations and now find myself fully immersed in global business introducing a new affordable sustainable housing system. I have just watched your you tube video and will share it with all important people in my life. Great thanks Ed

Wait- all immune diseases are psychosomatic? Back pain and arthritis is a choice you choose subconsciously? Can anyone here who's read the book please tell me if that's what Dr Glasser believes?

@@antihero105 yep. But it's not like you just choose to have artritis and you just get it over night by some magic. There are steps to that artritis and those steps are your choiches when you choose to control people by depressing, complaining etc.. you go against your health with all kinds of choiches, your immune system goes down.. you get sick. You didnt choose the sickness directly but you yourself created it. Been there, done that.

That was truly inspirational. As a person who has always had an interest in psychology but is simply trying to do some self development work so I don't always need to rely on pharmaceuticals as prescribed by my psychiatrists I believe I will go and get a copy of that book

Thank you , very interesting video. Although this theory is not fit for some client that suffers from mental disorders, it may be useful for clients with addiction peoples.

Psychosomatic doesn't mean that you choose to be sick subconsciously. It means that ways of thinking can affect body systems which in turn produces illness. For example, fear, stress and anxiety (ways of thinking) have consequences mentally and physically, causing phobias, OCD or stomach issues, etc.. That's psychosomatic.

Read further. That’s not sharps Glasser means. Illness happens, but choices we make can help us heal or increase our suffering.

I think this is good but it does not solve every mental health problem, what about trauma and schizophrenia? I am unsure about how learning to get along with others will help that. But I am open minded and will do more reading. Thanks for the info.

There are hundreds of theories. Some truth likely in all of them. He makes some excellent points and the book is quite good. I don't necessarily agree with all of the points, but that's true with most belief systems, no? I don't agree that there's no place for medications or a choice in schizoaffective disorders and the like, but for many clients, I believe this theory can help. Much of value here, though. Enjoy the journey.
