Hi Whitney, great video, and a dentist in 1972 told me to floss and brush right upon waking up, and I've been doing that ever since, and I still have all my teeth and mom and dad and sister lost all of theirs, hmm, I told them, they did not listen. Cheers!🎉😂 1:12

It's also good to brush after eating anything with a high sugar content as bacteria begin eating on the sugar immediately which causes plaque. Rinsing afterward with salt water or baking soda is highly beneficial as most over the counter mouthwashes contain alcohol which breaks down into sugar.

But you should still wait 20 mins before especially if you drink or eat something acidic.

I do all as you just said thanks to your previous videos but i tend to brush each time around 4 mins each time. I cant get round all areas in 2 mins😂. I also have my phiilips sonicare set on high intensity and deep clean. Feels good afterwards. Happy Tuesday whitney from uk 🤗

Hi TTG! Thanks for all the info you’ve given me recently. I’ve had all 4 wisdoms removed, two fillings, a root canal, and a permanent crown all in the last 14 months. Question- my permanent crown was put on yesterday (over my root canal tooth done a month ago) and the bite was fixed today. When I brushed this evening I noticed it had a bruised feeling. Then sort of throbbed afterward. Is that normal since I just had work done? It felt that way when I brushed over the temporary crown too. Will that go away soon? Thank you!

Oh Lord have Mercy on me. As a child of The Most High God, we are to take proper care of our bodies. And I feel the conviction, even our teeth & gums. I'm guilty. I have not been brushing 2x a day or flossing regularly. I have to make a CONSCIOUS HABIT OF BRUSHING B4 BED WITH FLOSSING & BRUSHING WHEN I WAKE UP. Thank you Whitney for this important reminder. Thank you for telling us WHY we need to brush 2x a day & floss. I really appreciate all the work you do in getting people to take care of their teeth & gums. And bodies, bcuz lack of brushing & flossing can have detrimental effects on our bodies. Keep on with the good info.😊🎉❤

Hi! I have a question regarding my teeth: My teeth feel uneven and gritty no matter how much I clean them. If I touch my teeth with my fingers it literally feels like I have scratched my teeth with small rocks. They even look scratched. This problem has been going on for 6 years. I even went to a cleaning and my teeth felt just as gritty and scratched afterwards. I'm really sad and desperate. It sucks to have teeth that never feel smooth. Do you have any advice for me please? 😕

Shouldn't drinking or rinsing with water after eating/drinking more or less make the 30 minutes wait time moot due to waters neutralizing pH factors?

In the morning I can't wait 30 minutes to brush my teeth because after I finish my breakfast I need to get ready to leave , I can't wait 30 minutes, but it's only in the morning time when I can't wait 30 minutes the rest of the day I can because I'm home then

Question here, do I also have to wait 30 minutes to use the water-flosser? Or is just for brushing?

Hi! Not sure if you’ll see this and reply, but I’ve seen your videos where you work with kids. Do you need just your dental hygienist degree to be able to do that or do you need more?
@TeethTalk

you can work in a pediatric office with your dental hygiene degree :) there isn't a different degree for pediatric hygiene. hope this helps!

I wonder why interdental cleaning is once a day, but brushing is twice a day. Wouldn't the same reasoning apply for both... with how long is takes for plaque to start turning into tartar?
@weirdandlazy1
6 ай бұрын
It could be that most people can’t even floss once a week so they set the bar low. It could also be that we don’t eat in our sleep so there’s not much to clean from between the teeth. Or, flossing twice a day would irritate the gums.
@Siberius-

@@weirdandlazy1 - I wonder. It's very hard to google for the info, because the results are just not related to the specific question I have. I think the first one, yea. Dentists do seem to try to simplify the messages and not get too down in the weeds with like how interdental brushes don't clean under the gum line for front teeth like floss does. Whitney from these videos recommends flossing multiple times a day for certain people if they want, so that's all good there if the gums are adapted to it.

if i rinse with water immediately after eating, then rinse my mouth with a dab of toothpaste and only my saliva for a minute (in my case the arm and hammer one that lists one of the benefits as neutralize acids), would that help in reducing the 30 minute rule after eating to maybe 15 minutes? ty, plt!

Can I use a medium bristle head on an electric toothbrush? I don’t scrub brush I just guide it along my gum line at a 45° angle. I accidentally bought a bunch of medium bristle heads for a Philips sonicare brush and it was expensive ;(

every individual is different! if you prefer 5 minutes and you're being gentle -- I usually tell my patients they CAN, but to remind me (i.e. remind your hygienist) that you do that so they can extra examine your gums to make sure all is good :) hope this helps!
