Don't make this electrical mistake when connecting electrical outlets and switches. Many DIYers will not have the experience to know that using the little holes in the back of an outlet or switch is a bad idea. This is known as "back stabbing" and it's a common failure point. Make sure power is turned off and verified prior to doing any electrical work.
