You should never remove a sway bar for high speed traveling, removed for slow travel

This is like a guy not recommending mud tires because when he used them on the road they were noisy and unsafe. No one detaches sway bars to fly down dirt roads. No one ever says it's for a soft ride. Shock adjustments improve shock firmness. You detach for extra articulation when low speed crawling, that's it and it's a major improvement.

Thanks for the comment chris mudd, and yes this was my screw up. I only posted the video for dummies like me to try and prevent them from doing the same....

Disconnecting the sway bar is for low speed rock crawling as it allows more suspension travel. A sway bars job is to prevent body roll and keep wheel aligned at high speeds and high speed cornering. I disconnect mine for Moab and sand hollow. Reconnect for fast travel. I would not recommend leaving it disconnected for speeds over 20-30 mph

I bought my 900 XC used after working on it shortly there after I noticed the rear sway bar was missing. It has the front one, and I'm glad it does because recently I encountered a situation with my niece where we broke loose in a turn and she was wig wagging until she got the machine stopped. Had that front sway bar not been there she would have been on her side. I bought another rear sway bar and I am going install it.

Exactly, it's amazing how much body roll is reduced by having the sway bars on. If your looking to corner hard or cut some doughnuts sway bars are your best friend.. LOL.. Thanks for the comment!!

In general this is good information. The wider the wheel base the more stable you can be as you move through rough terrain. It looks like you have a narrower machine. I agree with @kurtboeddiker3221.

I have the front sway bar on my 50 inch wide RZR 800 disconnected most of the time. Skid plates and a 2 inch lift with front sway bar disconnects were the first thing I put on it back when I bought it in 2009. Living in Utah I have a large selection of great technical mostly slow speed trails to ride which is where I spend most of my time, and find my average speed is often below 10mph. For more sight seeing type rides on forest service or blm roads where I'm runing 20 to 50mph or so I have the sway bar connected which is the best of both worlds.Just wish it was an electical quick disconnect like on many jeeps.

That’s awesome Jeff, I definitely know there is a place to have them disconnected… My roll over was more driver error than anything else. Man how i would love to ride Utah. Maybe one of these years. Thanks for the comment!!

I know many others as well as myself who have been running without sway bars for years on 4x4 vehicles both on and off road, none of us have ever had any issues keeping our tires planted on the ground...

Just put new sway bar links in my ifs 4x4. Was seriously thinking about removing it. After watching this, and remembering the time I had it up on 2 being an idiot, I'm leaving it on. 1000% would have gone over without it.

Glad I could help Solid x. Anytime we can share a bad experience or incident to assist in someone else not making the same mistake, it’s a good day. Ride hard, but ride safe!!

I take mine off for very technical terrain and hunting/chores. Never had a problem Any person should get the fact you can't race around without one and you should know what your doing before you do it but yes not a good application for this guy's needs obviously.

Totally agree, thanks for the comment BADGOAT, this was a learning moment for me and cost me big bucks. My reason for posting the video was for dummies like me to try and prevent them from doing the same. Thats all!! Again thanks for the comment.

no sway bar can work under 35mph anything over that and your one swerve around a dead animal or a rock or pot hole your just one swerve away from replacing plastics and a lot of fixing when she rolls, you might get away with it for a while but they're there for a "logical" reason LOL + the heavier the machine and or the more higher center gravity aka lift kits or larger than stock tires, the more quickly it will make you wiser

Hahahaha.. Thanks for the response, and explaining this.... When I flipped my machine I did not have a whole ton of knowledge for the purpose of a sway bar, since the roll over I have done my research and agree with you. There is a time when removing it makes sense. For me at this point I'm just leaving mine on, as I made this bad mistake. Thanks for your comment, and not attacking me for a lack of knowledge at the time of the roll over. Take care.

You're not supposed to remove our disconnect the sway bar at any on road type speed... My Jeep Rubicon had a front seat bar disconnect from the factory that can only be used in 4L. Common sense must have escaped you when doing this.
