For Beatrice I'd say they were calling back to "Free Churro". Bojack mentions his happiest memories were at her parties. Where she would dance for the guests. So spectacularly that even Butterscotch noticed. Then for Sarah Lynn I'd say it was more a manifestation of guilt. Which plays into "The View from Halfway Down". Where Sarah Lynn is the one who sing the reprise. Both being figments of Bojack's own psyche.

@marcobodt9750

Perhaps, but the old sport was a reference and all the lyrics of that part were changed I think. Sarah Lynn was definitely his friend from her POV, but if she knew about the 17 minutes of course that would have changed.

When I came across the "Don't Stop Dancing" mantra, it reminded me of myself. When I was a kid, I was pushed HARD to meet standards that I couldn't attain because of my declining mental health from pushing myself so hard and being neurodivergent. Sarah Lynn wanted to become an architect and live a happy life and all people did during her 31 years on Earth was disregard her feelings, force her into a life of stardom on top of abusing, enabling, exploiting and ridiculing her all for their own gain. I know she's a fictional character but her story is eerily similar to a lot of child stars who didn't have a say in what they wanted for themselves, and were abused by people with way too much power. What haunts me the most is the final shot of Sarah Lynn opening the door, staring down into the void, repeating those fateful words BoJack taught her and after a brief hesitation, holds her nose and dives in.

This comment shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the message of the song, it’s about pushing yourself constantly no matter what else is going on in your life and pandering for fame from an “audience” instead of accepting love from your friends and family. @Filmhead-Productions
Жыл бұрын
It means don't stop performing for people. Most celebrities and influencers pretend to be cheerful and happy when in reality, they're miserable. The more the fans demand of them, the more they feel obligated to give, and it's usually the cause of burnout in content creators. In the context of the show, "don't stop dancing" mean you have to keep performing to you give your audience what they want, even if it ruins you, or in Sarah Lynn's case, kills you. Being a child actor took it's toll on her, and the pressure she felt to "dance" is what led to her substance abuse, and eventually her death. I hope that explanation helped.
