If jeans or trousers become too small, that's not so bad. But when you can’t fit one foot into them at all, then this is a problem. Moreover, this is the case when none of the methods helps to stretch them.
What to do in such cases? Of course, cut and insert another fabric. I also want the belt to not put pressure, but to “adapt” to the increase in figure.
All this can be done and is not at all difficult, as it seems at first glance.
I believe that the best fabric for inserts in such cases is knitwear. It comes in different thicknesses and you can choose it for things made of thin fabric or thicker ones. Knitwear stretches well, is elastic and returns to its original shape.
How to change:
- First of all, you need to cut the jeans along the side seams. Then measure the circumference of your leg at the widest point. The difference between the width of the trousers and the size of the leg will be the width of the insert. You also need to add centimeters for a loose fit.
- Now the belt. I cut it off from the front below the waist to the pockets.
“I wanted to trim the pockets at the back and then sew them on.” But since there are rivets there, I decided to cut off the fabric along with the pockets. In total I cut off 9 cm.
- I’m missing 6 cm on each pant leg. I cut out strips 8 cm wide, 1 cm for the seams.
- I sewed the stripes to the front of the jeans.
- Now I connected the inserts to the back. It is better to do this using basting. To try it on and eliminate all the shortcomings, if everything is in order, you can stitch.
- Belt.
- I cut the knitwear 30 cm wide, measured the length according to myself so that it was tight, but not tight, folded it in half and stitched it.
- I folded the belt in half, made 4 marks at equal distances, did the same on the trousers, aligned the marks and stitched the belt, stretching it from mark to mark.
They are so comfortable, soft, they don’t press at the waist, the lower back is closed, and they stretch well.
As you can see, just because jeans are too small doesn’t mean you have to throw them away. There is a way out of any situation.
In fact, the result is a completely new model, and the color of the insert can be chosen as desired.
