A few different ideas, & a song about the lateral thinker / mathematician combination in channel. 😢 All I write is free. TRAP MATH The moneyish mathish who make tech with money to sell for money ..not think that if a person hasn't money they should receive the tech entitled. I write about a new cruel written math called trap math. It is where the answer's also the problem the to solves. Here, money is said to solve the problem free writer lateral thinkers have, our not being provisioned the free hardcore writer's tech we await. It is also the reason why we haven't the that writers tech. Really, free writer lateral thinkers should be receiving hardcore writers tech because technology is deserved of free writer lateral thinkers, who's least barbaric decisions have upsides and solve problems before their time. We are a worthwhile investment. Money shouldn't come into it. Technology is a human thing to do, but because of money being thought a factor, we are being treated like typical starving artists. What was the point of teaching us lateral thinking not to provision us our tech? It doesn't make sense. "A lateral thinker hasn't the money for tech equipment, because a lateral thinker hasn't the money for tech equipment". Trap math. It's 'slap in the face' verbal math'. It's like .. Man says to his wife "I love you ". She says "Why" He responds "Because I just do". (Shut up Karen). It is as though when humans hear the same thing said twice (eg "Why do we get married?" .. "Because people get married") it can be tad more convincing. It's discourages questions. You'll find beneath the questions that are also the answers, are the real reasons you should be doing something else. Lateral thinkers should be being provisioned & given the free writers tech we need to write faster & more the less people pick up pens the riskier free writing becomes. Money interferes with our receiving this tech, because it is applied to answer & question of receiving it. We get older, & faster at coordinating solutions thinking deeper still, but are being left in the lurch in the shallow end alone. We need our tech now. ⬇️ FREE WRITER LATERAL THINKERS STILL AWAIT PROVISIONED HARDCORE WRITERS TECH: Howdy. .. I write about time & abiogenesis. Help yourself to my work. ..Take the work, & I can write more. It's all I can do without the free hardcore writers tech that had never been provisioned for lateral thinkers, the less people pick up pens the riskier it is to be a writer, whilst everyone at any problem mentioned which they not want to look at scream "what about me!" for their attention. It feels like we are being squeezed out. I won't be being squeezed out. I won't be beating my head against nothing left to know anymore against disablers. Best case scenario is that writers will start to write terrible things. When a writer isn't happy, as lateral thinkers know, writing in a depressed state isn't all that fun. I hope somebody has a spec of hope here. Why would the truth hurt so that asholes burn clothes on front lawns about it, if the mathish enabling lateral thinker's providing us out writers tech? It looks to me, by the plan in lieu of receiving the tech, like It's absolutely certain writers won't be provided it. I call those angry ones who like to say things to people that hurt them but cannot tell the difference between mean things that hurt & truth that does 'Bulldozers in the briar patch'. It's not me that's hurting them. It's not even the truth that does. It's the collective shock threshold for truth that hurts that does. So long as lateral thinkers are thought to be the typical 'starving artist' variety writer & aren't facilitated, the lower the collective shock threshold for truth that hurts, & the more of those asoles are going to be getting around. ..I'm desperate for my tech equipment. I'm 41. I need to be updated. It seems to me though that luckily for me ..free writer lateral thinkers are high maintenance. I mentioned I wrote about time. Tech equipment would save me time. Just like the solving problems unintentionally solution first & before their time saves me time. Just like the bulldozer does. It is meant for me. If not provisioned, then truth that hurts will raise the collective shock threshold by that it hurts more the more there are who can't take no for an answer the lower that threshold. It's a bit of a seesaw effect. How aggressive bulldozers are comes down to how low the collective shock threshold of the people. I may not want people hurt by the things I say, but my wants are irrelevant. I am an instrument of truth, as much a witness to my own life as anyone else is.

I trust Sabine to communicate her best understanding of what she presents. However, whenever she presents on a topic I know about, she gets the broad strokes right, but invariably omits the key details; not because she is hiding anything, but because details are subtle. Unfortunately, the implications of details often go far beyond the details' size, some enough to change the whole picture. Probably if she talked to enough different people she could get the whole story, but that would take more time than she probably has to spare. This is not just Sabine's problem. It is a problem shared by almost all people doing journalism. It is very hard, and very rare, to do better. To be absolutely clear, I do not fault Sabine. She is much better in this than many who get more attention. But I do wish she would dig deeper, sometimes, even at the cost of having time for fewer vids.

This was thought provoking, Sabine. It made me realise that we, as video consumers, hunger for authenticity because it increases the illusion of the parasocial relationship. We strongly desire human connection, and the more that it sounds like you're hearing from a real person who is just talking their real thoughts directly to you, the more that desire is satiated. In a world where it is hard to find and connect with people, as it can be for many people in this digital age, it makes sense that we would lean heavily into this need. In my experience, the best thing for keeping a level head on the internet is to never respond to something immediately. Read it, inevitably get angry, upset, offended, etc. But don’t reply. Go away and try to think about it reasonably for a moment. Especially thinking about it from different perspectives: e.g. this is what I think they meant, or how they meant it. But did they really? Is there another way to interpret what they said? Then if you still want to respond, take the most positive interpretation of what they wrote and respond to that. If you can’t think of a positive interpretation, then just don’t respond. Your mental health will thank you.

Each word has a cluster of meanings, and those clusters are slightly different for each person in a conversation. Dictionary definitions are similar to the idea of absolute time, an interesting stepping stone towards understanding reality, but when you look hard enough, you learn that there is no such thing. The key is to include enough redundancy, extra clues, to help the reader figure out where they might have mismatched the intended meaning. You're right in that it is far easier for a real time audience of one, or a few people. It amazes me how well we get along once the audience scales to millions. There have to be thousands of incorrect interpretations of a given paragraph, probably in small clusters, but still, a huge amount of idea space accidentally gets explored every time words are uttered to an audience. I predict that it's far more likely the influence the internet has had is a mixture of loss of ease of advantage, gain of extraneous information, and shifting of expectations due to both of those. Having lots of people to talk to at all times arhuably decreases how much advantage we can take of one another. Having all sorts of information on hand arguably increases how much information we are receiving that is not pertinent or relevant to our past, current or future activities. And both of these things changing is sure to change what we expect of ourselves and others.

Learning another language has given me a great insight into the importance of context in all aspects of communications. Many languages (my example came from Japanese), rely heavily on context, stripping out subject, object or even operative verb once the context is understood in much the same way as a paragraph of text will lose detail and a new context is established in the following paragraph. Everything I know about language I have learned since studying a language other than my own. This also taught me the importance of empathy, firstly wanting to understand and be understood and making an effort to interpret correctly what the other is trying to convey. Perhaps I am wrong, however my guess is that most viewers of KZitem are not first language English speakers but in our egotistical way, those of us who are, will most likely not assume that there is a language barrier and will make little or no effort to allow for that. (Historically, the English approach is "Shout loud enough, they'll understand) I wish more English speakers were required to prepare material for publication online in another language, it would make for a much more empathic world. Finding a book for beginners in a new language, I see that an effort has been made to avoid ambiguity, that illustrations have been carefully chosen and that a euphemism is introduce only with help for the reader. Personally, I like the hybrid (synchronous /asynchronous) 😊communication of WhatsApp, which works for me over WiFi better than text, can carry all my attachments easily. I rarely misunderstand and am rarely misunderstood.

When I speak in real life with newer non native English speakers I am mindful to avoid idioms, sarcasm, euphemism, metaphor, and so forth. I'll be mindful of switching tense and think "if I can't say this is in Spanish then I won't say it in english" (i have minimal/basic grasp of spanish). With advanced non native English speakers I can speak more freely but I am mindful to pause after sentence for them to process and respond (rather than going on and on and on). I have seen others do what you referenced which is to raise their volume and speak very loudly to a new non-native English speaker. I find it so odd, they're generally not hard of hearing, although sure sometimes people are hard of hearing too. However online you're right, I type freely as does every other language. I'm often in comment sections with dozens of languages, each of course with their own script. The [problematic] translate button is sufficient for casual purposes like KZitem comments. KZitem comments are usually full of irrational thought, ignorance, wrath, immaturity, etc. Prior to KZitem comments I thought most people must be very intelligent but comments have single handedly changed that - and that has nothing to due to their use of language, poor communication skills, or low interpersonal effectiveness. For example people think the world is flat and it doesn't matter how many syntax errors they make in stating it - or what language this is expressed in.

I suspect if we get one major thing wrong about you while watching you - is that we don't know how much hard work you do to make a video. The time you spend researching a subject. Cross checking the facts. Double-checking the agenda that others may have. That even with all the knowledge you've already obtained - you have to ensure it's still relevant before you put it out there. The work that you have to do to dumb it down for the average viewer without sounding condescending. To attract intelligent, thoughtful viewers who want to learn - but don't need the degree to do it. And you do it with humor besides, which keeps it interesting and wanting to come back for more. There aren't many people who get it as right as you do, Sabine. Kudos.

And fact is, and that is fact, that all these cultures have been using barter economy before there was money and have pretty much ditched it once there was money in favor of trading for money, and that hundred of times all around the globe, makes it totally okay to say that one developed into the other one, even when there have been small local discrepancies on how exactly that happened in one case or in another case. Worth casually pointing out (long as we bring up SCUBA and hand-gestures) that "the usual" for "OK" is the thumb and index finger, pinched together for a circle with the other fingers extended... AND that the "ever-popular everywhere else" so-called "thumbs-up" signal means "We need to get to the surface NOW!" as in bordering on emergency egress, so NOTHING about that is "OK" in SCUBA... let alone a communicated "approval"... BUT it (thumbs-up, still) DOES come from aviation, also meaning "go up" but rather than egressing to the surface of water as in SCUBA, it's more in the sense of "All systems A-OK, so carry on!" to go up... We (humans, this time) are a varied and WEIRD species with many contradictions, even when sifting through the evidence of context... and our communications might easily be mistaken for a chaotic brain-traumatic disease... ;o)

This is the dilemma of social media. I embraced social media back in the 1980s, taking part in bulletin board systems and even creating my own BBS. I did so because I felt that asynchronous communication, unlike ordinary conversation, allowed time for careful composition of responses. I found that conversing online suffered from the same obstacles as conversing in real time: that respondents will interpret what you say according to their own biases without carefully considering what you might actually mean. This is the reason why, despite the frequent claims that world leaders should meet online instead of flying to conferences and emitting greenhouse gases, they will meet in person for the foreseeable future. Meeting in person allows instant repudiation of an opponent's position, which matters in our 24/7 news cycle. All that said, I think that avoiding misunderstanding in online communications is possible given sufficient skill in the communicators. "This thing you call 'language,' though -- you depend on it for so very much, but is any one of you truly its master?"
