Hey Brother great lesson on a killer tune, I still remember a buddy of mine putting the 1st ABB record on the turntable and him saying, "You GOT to hear this". Blown away then and with this lesson blown away now.

Ok. The ABB 3 volume edition does not indicate which solo is by whom. . So, even though I've heard it a million times, I am critically listening now on my way to work. And from my knowledge of both Dickey and Diane's styles I am concluding. The left channel and first solo is Duane. Becaue it transfers into Not My Cross To Bear on the left channel which I am also pretty sure is Duane on that solo with his classic prebends and pulling from the 2nd to the root on major pentatonic. Lol. I know this is geeky shit, but I got no one else that knows what the hell I am talking about.

You got it, i'm hearing Duane on the 1st solo and Dickey on the 2nd with Duane leading into Not My Cross to Bear. Its a little harder to tell between them on this album but there are definite stylistic differences and phrases that are unique to each player. Rock on Brother!

Vintage Guitar Workshop Doing the solos. I have (I'm sure you do like too) the 3.Volume Guitar music books. I can't believe the mistakes in there on this one. They are usually very accurate. But they have the first solo as a. G string 8-9 hammer on and off when it is actually 7-8. 8-9 wouldn't make sense becaue 9G is the major third of C and the progression is C minor 7, Gm7

And while we're talking the brothers. That 3 volume set has the words of Done Somebody Wrong as, "The barrel house told me.... my baby caught that train and gone." For YEARS I thought those were the lyrics. Only recently did I find the Elmore James lyrics as, "The bell has toned or tolled, my baby done caught that train and gone." Barrel house? Lol

Haha, I know exactly what you mean! My theory is that if the original was barrel house, then Greg interpreted like we all did as "the bell has tolled" because I'm sure that's what Greg sings

Vintage Guitar Workshop The original was bell has toned. And that is what Greg is singing. It's just that the writers misheard the lyrics. But for 30 years barrel house sounded good for me.
