These bait companies kill me with the Ned rig lol. Why would anyone buy a short piece of soft plastic at the same price as a 6” or 7” bag of stick baits Or worms? Marketing man! Look take your stick baits or trick worms and cut it down! Same thing and save money. And too take a shaky head hook with or without a twist lock and just use that like a Ned rig, BOOM saved money again!. Some may disagree but I am not wasting my money on a little bitty hook and that little bitty bait when I can make that out of stuff I already have lol. God bless brother love the videos!

I like to cut my zman bang stickz in half, gives me a 2.75" TRD and a 3" hula stick. That's 12 baits in a pack compared to 8 trds in a normal pack. Well almost in half, you get the picture.

Hey Tyler , I have a suggestion/question for another video . I was wondering if you would be willing/able to do a video on dissecting on how to fish reservoirs(where to fish for that time of year, what most of the forage is, what depths to target , what structure to look for etc) I appreciate all the videos and tips you put out . I watch and take my own personal notes from your videos and do damage on lakes by me . Keep up the great work !

Zman baits last longer and give the proper presentation. I use standard 1/8th oz jigheads with superglue. That weight gets the bait to the bottom quickly and stay down there regardless of current. Color depends on water clarity first, then forage.

ZMan makes very good lures, but they are hard to store, and hard to keep from melting. I'm not sure what they make their baits out of, but I love my ZMan chatter bait and trailers. You just can't mix/put them in a box. They have to stay separate!

Can't wait to sight fish in a couple months here in Ohio. I think when the fish are on the beds, the key is getting them aggravated enough to not eat, but pick up the bait to move it and spit it out, and bubble gum is one of those colors that seems to really get under their skin.

What about other ned options, not just straight TRDs... for example the Tickler or the Hawgz? Are they worth it? When would you use them over the TRD? Or do you limit it to a TRD if you are throwing a NED, otherwise throw a creature bait, tube, finesse jig, etc?

Why do they not make plain pumpkinseed and watermelon seed any more? And cotton candy. And smoke and amok/blue? Those are awesome colors in any water clarity. Cotton candy is better in clearer water and smoke but I catch a lot of fish on those colors. I used to catch lots of quality size fish on 4 1/2” culprit blue blood. I can only find 7 1/2” ones online.

Finally, a fisherman realizes that a dark brown, blue, or black plastic bait mimics a leech! I think you are the first one to state this. Regarding the Bubble Gut color, I have had good success with this one as well. I never tried it with a Ned, but a plastic worm in this color works well; likely because it mimics an actual earthworm so accurately.

I’ve been trying to tie together notes on depth, location, retrieve, and lure for each season. Tyler, What are the main conditions that drive using the Ned? Im getting ready to fish a tournament on a tidal river here in SC in a couple of weeks. It could likely be the coldest water temps I’ve my ever fished and chocolate milk. Rarely do I we see water below 50 degrees. This river is frequently muddy, but water is already in the 40s and 11 of the next 13 nights will be in the 20s. Often times in cold water I will fish deep for our waters and downsize. Within water so muddy and high, I’m thinking I need bulk and that fish will move to shallow hard objects. Just wondering…is a Ned a challenge to find in muddy water? Am I wrong to think it’s more of a downsized, visual concept that is maybe more productive when the bait is small? Just trying to better understand when to downsize or upsize? I know lots of factors need to be considered.
