Went to see the Butthole Surfers in the 90’s and was blown away by Don Walser and his incredible band. His beautiful voice and wonderful personality quickly won over the crowd! Fan for life.

I loved his music. The band played in St.Louis then came up to Columbus, Ohio. I happened to meet him before the show. I told him that I felt like I knew Cowboy Ramsey. He gave me a nod when he played that song. He had some difficulty climbing up on the stage but once he sat down and picked up his guitar, his face lit up. The energy he generated with his music was amazing.

This is great music and of course Lamesa Texas as the setting is a nice trip down memory lane. I traveled around that old "square" many times as a young man. Also spent many hours at the Skyview watching movies and things. :) -Jimmy Anderson

I had the pleasure of seeing Don many times in Austin, Texas and even to meet and speak with him several times. I couldn't help but be blown away by his talented voice, and that was even after he was getting up there in years. What impressed me most about him was the way young musicians respected and honored him. They'd follow him around all night making sure he was doing well and could get where he needed to go.

I'd love to meet him! Sounds like my kind of friend. I've known a few like 'em. There ain't many like em around much more.My grandfather was a Carolina boy that had a hotrod Jeep. Ah, dreams will be dreams. I've got me a Crown Vic that'll kick up some mud now! Too bad these old barges are being scrapped left and right.

Only thing sweeter than his voice was his heart. Talking about kids, one of these days I gotta post the CMT interview where Don warns Ralph Emery: "We play in punk rock clubs, and you gotta keep a close watch on them wild kids with orange hair and nose rings! They know the words to all the songs and if they catch you messin' up you'll never hear the end of it!!!" (Then he further baffles Ralph with talk of jamming on Everly Bros songs at the home of Industrial music's Al "Ministry" Jourgensen!)
