My husband and I went there in 2019 because of Louis Tomlinson’s video “Back To You”. We went to Keepmoat Stadium, and the skating rink at the Dome;-) Also, we stopped at the Yorkshire zoo after finding Louis’ old school at Hall Cross.He sings about Silver Street and it’s neon signs in his song “Change”…We all know that feeling when you go back home and things have changed…but also kind of stay the same. Louis and One Direction filmed “Gotta Be You” in MY hometown, so I get nostalgic every time I go back home . Louis knows how to write songs that one can relate to. He’s ace

Really enjoyed this excellent walking tour of Doncaster which looks a very modern town centre and not what I expected at all. People must appreciate that most places have their grot spots. The junkies, chavs and drop out's who congregate are not really the fault of the town planners but a sub-culture which has developed in society that is blighting all towns and cities right across the country. I bet there are equally as many weirdo's per square foot in the town where I live. Great video though!

At one time of day, the market place was thriving, fabulous place to shop for just about anything you could think of from fresh breads, cheeses, meats through to plants, flowers, clothes and everyday essentials. The many independent shops offered great choices too. It was a busy town with lots to offer. Now (in my opinion) it is full of cheap shops, empty shops, boarded up places, multitude of pubs and cheap drinking holes, fast foods, phone shops, vape shops and not much else...except the host of doorway huggers, people down on their luck, those with addictions and during non covid times, streets where vomit dodging becomes an art form. Such a tragic shame, another great British town lost forever.
@robertp.wainman4094

You're right. I loved the market and all the characters, I especially remember the china stall where they'd put on an a great show to attract the punters, throwing the plates around and with a 'patter' better than most 'entertainers' on tv nowadays. Then there was the lovely smell of Armitage's sweet stall and the fruit and veg sellers pitching bargains and washing locally grown celery, not to mention Britain's best fish market - including the cow heal and tripe stalls. . . . . folks who don't like tripe have never tried it done right! The there was Leesings near the market for the most delicious hot roast pork sandwiches - mmm. A great town.

I spent the first 20 years of my life in Doncaster, born and raised in Hatfield. Spent the last 20 years living in the Midlands and even though I fond memories of my 80s n 90s childhood and youth in Doncaster, I can't ever see me going back. We used to twag school sometimes and hang around the arndale centre and the market. We'd always be buying goofy things from the old joke shop inside the market, and then buy some vhs tapes from the stall opposite, because they were only 50p. And then it was off to buy a few records from our price. Everyone remember our price upstairs in the arndale? Then it was off back to the market place and JD to check out the latest Reebok pumps and Jordan shoes. Good times.

@@GimbalWalkTV bought my first record in our price. It was def leppards animal, and I'd bought it out of my pocket money. Had to have been around summer of 88 if memory serves me correctly, and I'd have been 7 years old. Do you remember the old Britannia stores aswell? I would go to town back then with my aunt and grandmother ever Saturday, and our price, Britannia, Woolworths, and Marks and Spencer were always on the list of places we'd shop in. And to finish off we would stop in at a cafe opposite what is now frechgate centre, and it was called poppin at pippens. I bet that cafe vanished 25-30 years ago now. Everything had changed on your video, and the only two places that looked the same were rothwells chippy, and the black bull pub. And even rothwells had had a facelift. Makes me quite sad to see the place as it is today.

O/ hi im 22 born and raised here in doncaster :) there are a lot of "secret" hideaway places that arent remembered anymore... its a shame really doncaster doesnt get the respect it deserves because of the local kids but ah well i suppose all areas have people like that

Thanks, good tour. Good music, but it doesn't match the video topic at all. It's quite a distraction really. Doncaster has some nice buildings, but we can thank leftist urban planners for too many eye-sores. And what wally designs those tacky plastic shop front names & designs? It's a place that has a lot of potential, but currently it looks depressing - like much of Britain. Boozing is the downfall of the Brits... & you can see everything is geared for that in such places, which is sad...

Great thing about Brexkt is you tell where they don't like strangers and avoid. I'd rather go to York or London or Scotland

Russian name of the city. Don - River. Caster is coal, fire. (Namely they did charcoal). That is, we have a complete compliance of the name and the mining region. In fact, Doncaster is Don-Bass (Donetskaya Pool) The second question is when they were the Russian language. Thames of the river also translates as dark)))

i saw this movie about Doncaster and compared it to another about the same town in the 60'. Absolutely unrecognizable. Where have gone all that activity, the people , the transport activities, the many shops, instead of children you see pesioners and strangers. the old traditional building repaced by mega-boxes. modern towns and cities are dying, like in all of UK and western countries.

I used to live just down the road in Scunthorpe. During the 60's I had a girlfriend in Donny, she lived in Balby. No idea what ever happened to her... Her name was Janet World. Hello from the United States, and Florida.

Hi. Where are the people? Population of Doncaster 300000 and there are so few peimpression,.. abandoned town, with a lot of low sociality people in town centre. Like I said, I have been there just few times and would be more then happy if you could change my impression about Doncaster. Thank you for a video.
