Even more funny when you consider that the three ddHifi TC35 PRO models he tested are technically exactly the same, it’s just a different design. But oh well, the whole concept of testing these dongle DACs with three different phones, running different streaming services and different music makes the actual comparison very very very questionable.

@@tripleM42 I don’t think the value of this video is to make serious and objective comparisons between all of these dac amps, but rather to give an overview of the main design highlights and features. It would obviously be too many variables to use all different sources and audio chains for an accurate sound comparison. It’s just an overview/first impressions.

I have the TC35 Pro and I can 100% confirm they all sound the same! Confused with you Z, that is a bad take XD They are all identical internally. The design is the ONLY differentiator (hence why they are all named the same product model). On another note, my 1 issue with the dongle DACs is the USB-C connectors always deteriorate over time and you need to replace the cable or the product... Is this common?
@nostgeoffhi-fi
Жыл бұрын
Yes common. Always baby them and handle with 2 hands. I have used both my 3.5mm headphone port and usb port on my Samsung S9 and both ports have worn out the aluminum on the surrounding casing. And AND neither inner connections work anymore. I now have to use bluetooth devices and wireless charging with it. But it's an 8yr old phone, and I wanted to experiment how it would hold up to regular careless abuse of slamming plugs in and out of it everyday. Now I've got the usbc ipad mini 6 and am being more gentle with it.

Zeos the power of the s9pro is about 110mw/32ohm on the single ended and double of that on the balanced. It is true balanced...All dongles sounds different on the phone vs pc and nobody points that out. For example the s9pro sound more intimate on the phone and not as loud as on the pc also the soundtage positioning is different. Sound is very interesting (glassy like) and better than the cobalts. I think your mind is biased too much with the marketing claims. For instance both the s9pro and dd tc44b has higher (better) sinad than the thx onyx (not that it matters).

I prefer the TC44B to the S9 Pro with my iPhone. The TC44B is more musical, and can play to 85-90% full volume without clipping. The S9 Pro craps out at 60-65% volume, which is slightly too quiet in most listening environments.

@@francisteardrop than return it back cause ur s9pro is propably faulty. I like how u all ,,midbassy and too thick in the mids call musical. It is personal preferencies based on what headphobes do u use of course... But on PC the s9pro sounds like desktop. Clean clear separated detailed. I like it more :) also i didnt noticed any clipping, i can use full volume if i can. I use the kinerra nanna 2.0 and the hifiman sundara the most and I tried them also with my s9pro and those are not that easy to drive. To be honest i prefer the s9pro to my dragonfly red (quite difference), dragonfly cobalt and in some cases even to my xduoo xd05 plus. But is more like the 05plus is better in something and the s9pro in something. Also the s9pro is more lively and not that boring like the TC44B. But just my preferencies

@@matusjurcik6974 The S9 Pro has no issues on my MacBook. I’ve tried several pairs of headphones (IEM, on-ear, over-ear) that are generally easy to drive with an iPhone (iSINE10 are practically designed FOR iPhone). My issue is with my iPhone and not my MacBook. Hidizs sent me a firmware update that helped with the 3.5mm unbalanced connection on my iPhone, but there is still clipping on both ports at higher volumes (3.5mm can be driven slightly higher, 81%). I’m highly doubtful I have a faulty S9 Pro.

@@francisteardrop yes with my android phone i experienced sound stutterings. But i dont care cause on PC it sound taller and wider and it drain battery too much also. It seems that it has some problems with phones. Right now it is a good option only to use it as a companion for ur laptop to take it everywhere with u to have much better sound. But some people didnt experience that above mentioned problems so it is more like some units have it and some dont. Btw i can really recommend to use the s9pro with the hd58x (with 2,5 balanced) all of the sudden they sound more lively and the tuning is corrected (upper mids, treble). Also from the laptop they sound like u drive them from the desktop dac/amp. From my experience the difference between the 3,5 vs 2,5 mm is bigger than some reviewers quoted. 3,5 mm sounds very good but the main difference is in the space, everything (vocals, instruments...) are more up within the space also a little bit more separated. So just use it with the 2,5mm from pc or laptop with normal to drive headphones and u dont need schiit stack (300usd) for example.

So, for balanced use with my iPhone, the ddHiFi TC44B (also highly reviewed by Amir at Audio Science Reviews) beats the Hidizs S9 Pro, hands down. Both have excellent sound quality, but the S9 Pro draws so much power that the volume starts clipping in the 60-65% range. Dear, could you please inform the orange balanced cable spec? Did you DIY or bought?

I am, in fact, not googling the thins you said to not google. Been burned by doing that too many times. I've learned my lesson, and learned to listen when someone says not to do that.

Are they all better than fiio btr3k or btr5? For my budget I was thinking of the btr3k or the ikko zerada tm01, the tc44b is just a bit over for me

I recived the hidisz s3pro and use it with my galaxy tab s7 plus and my hifiman Sundara. It gets plenty loud for me but is the dongle good enough for the sundara?

Running my Sivga Phoenix with Hart Audio Cables with a 4.4 Pentaconn interconnet in to the DidiHifi TC44b lighting connector to my iPhone running ITunes Lossless tracks. Sounds amazeballs to my old ass ears. Don’t see the need to pay $25 a month for Tidal anymore. (Although, my Ifi- Go blu with Portable HD DAC/Amp should be here on Monday. Planning to run my KXXS with a 4.4 Pentaconn cable for more on the go situations)🤙🏼

let me just say this is invalid even for a subjective comparison. different apps. different songs. different volume. nothing matters.

The time stamps say you show an apples dong but I didn't even know apples had dongs, and I don't see any dong. False advertising

The Apple Dongle was disappointing for me because its output is so quiet it's almost un-listenable.

Hidizs also has a DH80S model, which is the DH80 *without* that docking crap.
