Let's walk around Dongo, a small town on the north-western shore of Lake Como.
Dongo isn't as popular as other cities on the lake, it's quieter and more of a town where people go about their everyday business without hundreds of tourists in every direction, and that makes it worth a visit for it's authentic beauty.
The town enjoys a vast view extending towards Gravedona, Bellagio and the north extremity of Lake Como.
Dongo played a crucial role in Modern History: the last act of fascism was consummated here with the capture and killing of Mussolini by the partisans on April 28, 1945.
It's also famous for its spinning mills and ironworks: since 1400, furnaces have been operating to work the iron extracted from the mines of the Valle Dogana (Dogana Valley).
