When the genius of a brilliant musician, and the sensuality and ability of a renowned singer, meet together! This was an old time classic of the late 1970's, with which we grew up, as kids (.....I was six, when it first came out in '77!) Late Mr. Barry, may God rest your soul, as well as Mrs Summer's too, and all of us, here in Greece, wish to thank you, both, for accompanying our youth, with such wonderful melodies!

My 1st Love in College had the soundtrack album. I was already a big fan of John Barry (ever since I heard "You only live twice"). I played the slow version during foreplay, the first time we made love. (It's a French thing). Thank you for sensitive reply you posted. D

Donna Summer should have sung a Bond tune and collaborated with John Barry. Thats what you realise when listening to this. Clearly Donna Summer was a great musical talent under utilised throughout her career except when she was with Georgio Moroder. She also was a gorgoues black woman in the 1970s and 1980s and would have made a great and sexy bond girl herself. I bet Donna Summer was a knockout in a bikini. You can see she has a great body under those smart clothes or at least certainly did in the 1970s and 1980s. I think the movie would have been more interesting if they made Donna Summer the acting lead interest and partner of Nick Nolte character in this movie instead of Jacqueline Bisset. I think Donna Summer is a far better looking woman and they could have spun a story of Donna Summer with caribbean roots going back to Bermuda on holiday with her boyfriend Nick Nolte instead they made a fairly boring but beatifully shot film of the colourful sunny effervescent caribbean clearly a very nice part of the world which no doubt an underwater diving paradise with unclaimed buried treasures of hundreds of years of unaccounted ships and their cargo resting at the bottome of the caribbean waiting to be discovered by adventurous treasure hunters, which is what this movie is about. But I thought the director could have made it a bit more exciting like spielberg would have done. When they potentially could have made it a bit like Jaws and made it more exciting.Still its beatifully shot especially many of the underwater sequences. Finally I wish I was born 20 years earlier. Because in the last 15 years so many of these great artists who I grew up with have passed away. R.I.P. Donna Summer. I will always remember her as the beautiful woman she was in the 1970s and 1980s when she was at her best physically and talentwise.

Just watched " The Deep " on TV. Donna truly was The QUEEN of Disco !!! I can't believe she is gone, all these years. Considering what a fabulous voice she had, what a horrific way for her to pass away. So deeply missed.

That was an incredibly bad movie. They sold it on the basis of Jacqueline Bissett's t-shirt. All the movie was was 3 people underwater. Dreadful flick.

@@johnnymfan5065 As a teenager back when it was released I was very impressed with it (ah...naivety and ignorance) enough so that I spent my hard earned babysitting money to purchase the music. Someone recently stirred a memory of it and now I don't know whether to spoil the childish memory by watching the movie as an adult or just let the memory persist in ignorance.

On another post someone mentioned the Barry/Summer combo was a Bond Theme That Got Away. For sure Donna had the props to be a Bond Girl & would’ve made a great choice the “Moonraker” theme after Johnny Mathis pulled out & was replaced by Shirley Bassey who was “on hand”. Shirley nailed it but when you hear “Down Deep Inside” you can only wonder how Donna could have tackled a Bond Theme Song. Missed opportunity.

Afortunadamente mis padres me apoyaron a ello. Remembering yesterday with the lady of the night, who gave me the inspiration to learn another different languages. Indeed, she taught me my first english lessons. Thanks Donna, wherever you are, your music will remain with us forever.

LaDonna Adrian Gaines-Davis; nuestra: Donna Summer-Sudano (1948-2012). ¡Les deseo muchas bendiciones para todos! William Rodríguez-Zayas desde mi lindo y hermoso Puerto Rico 🇵🇷. La Isla Del Encanto. La Isla Del Cordero De DIOS. Amén

LOVE Beautiful Donna and have always been enchanted by this haunting sweet song.....I am not sure how i feel about the speed changes. Seems like it changed speeds 3 times 2 times would be good but somehow it seems to have 3 different speeds 45 33 and 78 😁🤨😵💫! Someone marked surprise that thia song has not been redone..... actually I sont think many aingers can deal with the higher notes here and even if they can we all know when someone has a signature sound that it cannot be duplicated the notes may be hit but not with Donna's unique signature that males the song uniquely great! The ine female to openly acknowledge Donna's incredible hold on her talent was Dionne Warwick. She remarked tha5 ahe never delv2r deeply into disci because of DONNA .... she felt Donna Summer owned disco in a way that Dionne a GREAT vocalist herself could not improve upon. Thats when I knew I was right all along about Donna. She is a pioneer innovator ahe clearly had more the one or two octaves that no one is speaking about but thats ok we KNOW what we KNOW!
