That was the era where it was given to see a player helped off the field with a teammate holding them up each side. Shell was a legit beast on those teams. Trying to hit like those men put alot of us out during practice and games to the ER in the 70s.

A few others that brought a full lunch pale and laid severe HAT! Don Rogers, Deron Cherry & Kenny Easley in the ‘80’s and Eric Turner in the ‘90’s & wild man Troy Polamalu in the ‘00’s. The Steelers had another safety ‘71-‘77 who started in front of Shell named Glen Edwards, who could also lay the heavy lumber.
