How does a man make a Song just by humming and sounds better and is more soulful than 95% of music nowadays.....RIP to the Legend. One of the more Slept on albums of all time. Soulful as a MUG.

I was all of 19 years old when this film was first released. I can't count how MANY times I went to see it.. utterly captured by the brilliance of its score. But THIS song.. reached deeply into my soul.. without a single word! Just pure, raw emotion.. that still brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it.

Amazing slice of life story Leroy! i always remember when i was a kid reading a kids bible and reading about the singing of lamentations and always never knowing how or what it was. After hearing Donny i understand its a holy lamentation because Donny's genius was how naturally his heart and music were inseperable ,many times Leroy i here and see comments how his music brings tears .Leroy nice to share some great memories and inspiration

Yeah I know its an instrumental but how I wish people would return to this style of singing and delivery of a song. Listening and interpreting the lyrics and communicating emotionally with the listener. Whitney and Mariah have a lot to answer for with so many less able wannabes who shout and scream their way through a song with the subtlety of a brick caring not 1 iota for the lyrics.

knockshinnoch1950 Agreed 100%,Kids think if I can shout ,or sing in an affected way (I'm thinkin here of all the Amy Whinehouse carbon copy girls that have flooded the female market),or sing down their nose with that awful nasal honking voice.Dude theres NO LOVE IN IT ANYMORE.............the intentions and demeanour of a persons soul cant be better defined than singing,Donny sang that thing like William Blake wrote a poem or Shakespeare wrote a sonnet .Here was a man putting his HEART into his ART.I despair when people compare todays narcissistic singers with the likes of Donny

Absolutely, I DETEST Amy Winehouse- she was no more than a 60s girl group tribute act- most of her recordings are complete rip off of motown songs! As for Adele she is a modern day Ethel Merman!

knockshinnoch1950 hahahaha i nearly fell off my chair at the ethel merman mention!!!!!!!!.Yes absolutely agree 100% and amy whinehouse is already the benchmark that others live up to.Ere's another example if you have been unfortunate enough to suffer 'the voice'bbc's version xfactor,at the semi final stage the judges had to act as muse to their chosen act.Enter rita ora is she a talent? i mean you might as well put a parrot in front of all the black dissonace r n b distorters beyonce,TLC,SAMANTHA JADE,KIMBERLEY WALSH,God help us . Be honest here is their anything out their that is remotely original?Lala Hathaway is ok to sometimes very listenable but i have to saay she isnt a patch on her sister Kenya ,For me kenya could have took on the baton from her dad but alas shes a shy girl Listen dude any female artist today vs roberta flack i wouldnt even put money on it Donny is to singing class what aristotle is to philosophy no peers what so ever

Ah Roberta Flack now that IS a voice. Gladys Knight, Brenda Russell, Randy Crawford, Pylllis Hyman. I could listen to them for hours on end and never grow tired. They don't need backing dancers and silly dance moves or flashing lights. These girls just SING!

knockshinnoch1950 knockshinnock welcome to the world of fast food r&b .Have you listened to 'never my love anthology album of Donny? a few more unreleased cuts.zyxygy concerto leaves us with a tantalising glimpes of what a genius this man was capable of.I think it was meant to run smoothly into someday well all be free im guessing?.The limits of what might have been are astounding knoch i think this guy was the only one able to interpret accurately that Portugueses termof longing and loss mixed with joy called 'Saudade'.There arent words able to accurately articulate what it means lool but by God in music i think mister Hathaway was bang on the money
