BUYER BEWARE - If you have an M1 Mac, DO NOT BUY this mouse (March 2022). I never comment on KZitem, but just like the uploader I feel so strongly about the issues with the MX Master 3 on M1 Mac that I have to say something. I work in IT and believe me when I say this has been the most frustrating peripheral and software experience I've ever had. It's utterly infuriating that a mouse that is marketed specifically for a Mac, and that is so expensive, is so broken and unsupported. This isn't something that can be fixed on our end, it's something that Logitech must recognise and provide a fix for in both Firmware and Software (assuming it's not a hardware incompatibility). Logitech has not provided any meaningful support or fix in the last 15 months, I'll leave it up to you to decide if you think that's going to change. I've returned my mouse and would advise anyone considering purchasing it to look elsewhere until Logitech brings out a new model.

M1 Macbook Air, MX Master 3 user here. If you are a mac user unistall logitech software and get SteerMouse. I've had similar issues, most annoying was intermittent horizontal scrolling. Absolutely random on and off, 2 seconds here, 5 seconds there and because horizontal scroll was one of the main reasons I went for mx master 3, I started to look for the solution. Logitech support is a joke. Once I uninstalled all logitech software I realised that all the issues disapeared so it's not hardware incompatibility. Of course after uninstalling logitech software I couldn't customize buttons and scrolls the way I like, but then I've found SteerMouse. Way more ways to customize scrolls and buttons and no issues anymore.

this video should have (if you have a Mac) added to the title. I'm using an MX Master 3 on a PC and its been superb. Battery is brilliant, it will track on everything from glass to carpet and the magnetic scroll wheel is simply genius. But do agree that the thumb wheel is a bit high.

I have both mouses and here is my opinion (I use them on Macbook Pro i9 chip, mostly with unifying receiver, but sometimes with bluetooth): 1) MX master 3S came with a new unifying receiver, the new one, it was in the box. 2) 3S is not compatible with older receiver (and the same for Craft keyboards - if you have a combo 3S + Craft, you need to use 2 receivers, or just bluetooth). 3) The same for the software - Options+ is not compatible with either 2S or Craft keyboard (you need 2 versions of the software if you have a combo) 4) Thumb wheel on both mouses is something I never liked to use, it's not precise enough / clicky to be usable comfortably in my opinion (for example when scrolling timeline on Premiere Pro) 5) Ergonomics of 2 extra buttons close to the thumbwheel (usually Back and Next) are much better on 3S. On 2S they are so close together that are hard to press (especially the upper one is difficult to press) 6) Scroll wheel on both mouses is in a very similar position, I felt it natural to scroll on both mouses, great to use on both mouses 7) Side button (below the thumb) is easier to press on 2S. 3S has a smaller clickable area for this button under your thumb. But 2S had a problem with rubber around it (after couple of months it gets deformated and stuck because there is a plastic next to it, with not too much free space - if if rubber gets deformated with time, then you cannot freely press the button - seems to be fixed in 3S, but time will tell) 8) 2S has a problem with screws, they used a very thin plastic inside for screws, and it basically just crumbles. After a year of 2 of using, you start hearing noises of something in your mouse, you open it and you see small bits of plastic from around screws everywhere. It gets worse in time (possibly planned aging of the product - so you have to replace it) 9) I always had problems with Options software on MacOS. Usually it was not loading my custom buttons/presets configuration when starting the system. Doesn't seem to be an issue with new Options software. 10) I used 2S for 4 years of daily using and it was never broken (except broken screw plastics), always working. 11) Overall I'm happy after the upgrade, and I would not choose 2S again due to (in my opinion) improved ergonomics and software.

All these points are valid. My only issue with this video is that you should make it more clear when it was posted as KZitem says it was posted a year ago which not accurate. Today is November of 2023 and based off what I saw in this video I am guessing it is from 2021. Which by now all the connection issues have been addressed. Ergonomics are personal and I find the MX3 very comfortable, in fact more than my old MX1. Also, I have had mine for a while with no connection issues on an Apple M chipped Mac.

With the USB receiver, the MX Master 3 worked flawlessly for me. I can't say the same for MX Master 3s, though. They've introduced this new "Logi Bolt" receiver, and the experience is lacking so far. The Bluetooth issues are also prevalent on the Intel Mac Mini. Apple has known about it since 2018 and done nothing. The root of the issue is that the BT transceiver is located very close to the USB ports. USB (especially high-speed / high-traffic usage) interferes with the admittedly weak BT. I have this issue on my 2018 Intel Mac Mini. The main help is to not use the USB ports on the Mac Mini, but to run a USB hub with nice shielded cables off of a Thunderbolt port. I still get occasional issues when doing large amounts of data access on USB attached storage devices. I'm currently using the Apple Magic Mouse (with 3rd party rubber bumpers to save my hands), but looking to move from it. I had an old Logitech Master from about 2011-2012 that I loved, but it has gone kaput. It had a tilting scroll wheel that I absolutely loved. Now they've gone to the thumb wheel which I suspect I will hate. I actually like the digitizer on the Magic Mouse for this. I don't know...I feel kind of stuck seeking my ideal mouse.

Or on the time line in Logic Pro X & Final Cut Pro X. So the logitech MX master 2 lays here in one of my drawers as a back up for when my AMM battery is low and i need to charge it. Then i will usually take out the MXM 2 or i just take my Apple Magic trackpad 2. So i'm still in search of a good mice. But also for a good keyboard that works nicely on my Mac. I've been looking to the Keychron keyboard's (with numpad) but i've recently heard their mice's are pretty good as well. So i'm going to look a bit more into that. I personally do like gaming keyboard's as well. Especially the Corsair/Logitech915 & the SteelSeries Apex Pro Keyboards really appeal to me. But i know that the compatibility with a Mac isn't good with those gaming keyboards as they are made for Windows. I do think my only option is either the Keychron or go with a Logitech MX Keys. I would like to try out a mechanical keyboard. Preferably "half height." I'm not sure which switch i'm going for. Though i do think it will either be a red or brown one. I don't have any other experience with this. But those 2 switches looks most interesting to me.

I’m using a Magic Mouse 1 (in macOS) and a Logitech Pebble (in Bootcamp). The Magic Mouse works absolutely fine for me, only issue is the 1st Gen will turn off if give it a bump because the batteries will get dislodged. The Pebble is there mainly because Windows is hostile to the Magic Mouse (and the Magic Trackpad), and I like lower mice. The Pebble being a quiet mouse also pleases me. However it is unreliable in MacOS when connected with Bluetooth, it’s more reliable when in Windows but sometimes it has mis-clicks, when using the dongle it’s all fine. I’ll probably get a Magic Mouse 2 because I’m tired with that battery dislodging thing. I’m okay with how it charges. MacOS will inform the user when the battery is low, and the remaining juice can easily last a day or even more, just remember to charge it at night and it’ll be fine.

I use the MX Master 3 with PC. Only complaint with it, as you pointed out, is its pretty high and ended up getting a wrist glide to go with it otherwise the ergonomics are crap. Having said that, it has worked well for me. Not sure it was worth the price, but its held up well.

I'm finding the mini version (mx anywhere) much better for ergonomics. Got 2 of them, one on my desk and one for the road.

Thanks for this video. I'm using a Magic Mouse and it's an absolute pain to switch it from my work MacBook to my m1 Mac mini. (I have to go through accessibility using key-mouse) I was considering getting the MX 3 for its "seamless switching" between 3 different devices, no more!

Warning: Long post Here’s my experience. I’m using a MacBook Air M1 with an external monitor and keyboard and Magic Mouse, iPad Gen 7, and an HP windows PC. For various reasons I am not willing to trash the Microsoft OS machine and the apps I am using there. The PC usage is with a K350 BT keyboard and M510 BT mouse. Both have been easy to use and very dependable, with long battery life (for me). My complaint after I got my Macbook was the constant shuffling of keyboards and mice when switching from one to the other. My prospective solution was an MX Keys and the MX3 mouse. Shortly after receiving both, I discovered Apple’s Universal Display feature. What a game-changer. Now the keyboard and Apple mouse can be used on both my M1 and iPad. Seamless usage, in my opinion. Super easy to use those two peripherals on the Apple devices. And the keyboard easily communicates with the PC when I need it. So now I have one keyboard, instead of two. Unlike you, I’m not yet disgusted with the Magic Mouse. It serves my needs well enough, but of course doesn’t work with the PC. So, should I open and use the MX3? Well, I agree with you about many of the annoyances with that rodent. And, the M510 has not failed me over several years, so why trash it? If I switched to the MX3, I would be “flipping the switch” back and forth when switching machines anyway, so why waste that US$99, simply for more buttons that I may or may not make use of? Besides, I think it is a bit ugly. So, I sent the unopened mouse back to Amazon for a refund, but kept the MX Keys. Superb keyboard for my usage, with easy switching among machines, long battery life in my experience, but a bit pricey at $120. When switching to the PC, I throw one switch on the keyboard and pick up the M510 and “Away we go” as Ralph Cramden used to say. One keyboard on my desk, and two mice. Plenty of room now. You asked for it, and that’s my take on the subject. Thanks for the video, and your well-considered opinion.

I use the MX master 3 with my work Windows laptop, my iPad Pro and my M1 MB Pro and I dont have these issues, maybe I'm just lucky? I do wish that both the mouse and keyboard would change together when I press the keys on the keyboard instead of having to pick the mouse up to change channel, but apart from that its been flawless for me... Sorry I can't be of any help but I figure a comment helps the KZitem algorithm...

i use the old logitech Performance MX Mouse i feel its connectivity, and tracking is superior to my s2. The scroll wheel can side shift, the forward and back buttons are far more comfortable and is used 90+ percent of my time. To bad the coating on the finger buttons and palm rest blows. ✌

I’m still using my Logitech M275, it’s pretty old but I just absolutely love how it feels, the scroll wheel is starting to fail tho so i bought a master mx 3s, i’m still keeping the old one tho. It literally has a smooth spot from my finger on my left mouse button xD

I found a solution to the Logitech mouse issue with the Mac Studio... if you use a USB-C to lightning converter to connect your mouse's USB receiver to then there are no issues. If you connect it to the USB C port, there's all kinds of skipping, lag, it's terrible... there is no disruption when you connect the receiver to the adaptor in the lightning port. 🐁

Im using the MX master 3, have had lots of lag and disconnects on Mac. Another issue is the unifying receiver is USB-A. So you can't connect it to a Mac without an adapter

Еrgonomics and durability are very important to me. I had a wired Open mouse with the Logitech logo, which worked for 20+ years. And it would have worked longer if I hadn’t broken the wire. During all this time, no double-click problems appeared. Now, while I'm looking for a mouse, I use the cheap Genius for $4. I was thinking about taking the Logitech G102, but after looking at the reviews I saw that many were complaining about the double click. I can't decide between wired and wireless. On the one hand, with a wired one there is less hassle, but the plus of wireless is comfort. a Also connect to several computers and a smartphone. I edit a lot of videos, so I need a mouse with a scroll button that can be used to click right and left, thereby moving the CTI by 1 frame. I looked through a lot of mice until I found one that combined all my requirements.

about 4 years ago I purchased a MX1 mouse - to go with my new Alienware laptop. It was horrible!! returned it back after 1 days use. I waited for the MX2 to come out and having no issues since. Also due to limited USB ports on laptops I wanted to use the BT connectivity. Last year I've switched to a MBP m1 max. The MX2 mouse is still good, connects quick via BT no lag or other issues, also really taking advantage of the device switching when jumping back to my Alienware from time to time. Only downside I have is the scroll wheel on the mouse got damaged I did a repair on it to keep me going, so I currently have no free scroll. Not too bad I can live with it, only when working late at night the scroll clicking noise seems really load. I think next upgrade for me will be the MX4 - if they do release one.

I'm at the same crossroads, I have had the Logitech MX Vertical mouse for over a year, I like it but I have the same problems on my Macbook pro M1, they have been partially solved with the unifier, it's not perfect at all, super annoying because it's an expensive mouse. Today the wheel has stopped working, I've tried to repair it and nothing worked!! As a graphics designer, I need an ergonomic mouse, so I was thinking to opt for the MX Master, but I don't want to have the same problems, especially if it doesn't even come with unifying. I hope we find some other similar mouse that is not Logitech, I really need it!! Thank you for the informative video, subscribing

So the 2 mice I have are the MX Master 2S for my work desktop & the Magic Mouse 2 for my Mac Mini, totally agree with you about Magic Mouse in terms of the Goddawful ergonomics, the functionality of it is fantastic but anything more than a couple of hours cripples my hand/wrist. Never had a problem with the MX Master, but then I’ve never tried using it on my Mac

14:10 I came here for an answer and left with the same problem.. if you worked at apple for 10 years, I give up lol I've used the Logitech MX Masters - bluetooth and wirelessly with dongles. Lag / stutters. I use a PC for gaming also which lets me be a bit picky on mouse latency I have a 14 inch Macbook Pro M1 Max (had M1 also) and the only mouse that has worked without lag has been the magic mouse or trackpad - but the ergonomics of the magic mouse just isn't it.. 9:38 "it's a great example of where obsessing about a products style has had a detrimental effect to the actual funcitionality and usage of the product"

"Glorious model o" with WIRE! And I'm done with the mouse thing. Light, accurate, perfect. I'm probably the only one who needs perfection and not lots of buttons, whiteness, no middle wheel, "ergonomics" wireless, you name it. "Glorious model o" is and will be. MAC devices excluded from start.

I hate to recommend a different Logitech product after this review, but the Logitech G502 HERO is absolutely phenomenal. I've never had any issues with it, it has plenty of extra buttons that are very easy to access. While it doesn't have a sideways scroll wheel, you can click the middle scroll wheel left and right for sideways scrolling. I've really only used this mouse for gaming and some 3D modeling on a PC so I can't say how well it holds up on a mac, but I've had two of these mice over time and I think they really are great.

I use the Apple Magic Mouse and it’s great apart from several things. No quick change to another device. What often drives me mad is that I often accidentally swipe sideways resulting in a previous page or previous video. I don’t like that, hence landing here while researching an alternative.

Two cheap Tecknet MGQ424, one for my Macbook Air and another for my Surface Pro 6. I've had them for years and they work fine on wood. They take AAA cells and I just keep a couple of cells fully charged ready to swap in. That is more convenient than having to charge a mouse when it runs out. For my Dell deskside I use the wired mouse that came with it and a USB switch to switch everything to a Surface dock. I have a Logitech ball mouse but I never use it. I hate trackpads.

I have the Logitech anywhere MX 2 - and it is my favorite. I use them with Windows and macOS... I know there is no thumb wheel, but you can press the middle button to the left or the right to have a similar function. You might try a madcatz R.A.T. - you can tune it perfectly to your hand. and they are available with wires.
