DOOM 2016 is extremely demanding on these chips, to the point where no matter how low i dropped the resolution, i couldn't get anywhere near 60fps. For that reason i found out a stable low framerate cap was the more sensible way to play this game.
Given the above, i decided to use a custom 32:10 resolution (1920x600) in my external 1080p monitor and capped the framerate to 36. Such a cap is possible due to the fact my external monitor has a 144hz refresh rate and supports both freesync and low framerate compensation. If your external monitor doesn't support any of those features, your best option is capping the fps to 30 or leave it uncapped and deal with the judder.
Issues during testing:
1. While the game does support ultrawide resolutions natively, the FOV itself doesn't scale properly with the aspect ratio, thus requiring the use of both Flawless Widescreen (www.flawlesswi...) as well as an additional plugin (community.pcga...) to fix the field of view.
2. In-game texts strech past the 16:9 aspect ratio. There are no known fixes for this particular issue.
Some of the additional performance drops are due to OBS, which i'm using to record these videos. You most likely won't have performance issues if you play the game normally.
