This tool is the reason why I think all front-end web design jobs will be gone in 5 years

Yep, and let's stop acting like the UX sector will thrive in the next few years. With AI, anyone with basic software skills will be able to create a website in a matter of minutes with just a fraction of the human designer's price.

So when are we going to stop pretending that AI is just a tool, and won't threaten our jobs? If Dora or any other AI website builder will be able to satisfy 90% of the market needs, then even the last remaining, seasoned designers, will have to deal with massive pay cuts since there won't be many job openings or freelance gigs anymore, and AI will be able to do most of the job anyway. Clients will be able to make crappy websites themselves, and who's going to tell them that the website sucks? All this bs about "there will always be a need for a human to verify AI outputs" is just a massive coping mechanism. Clients' do not value design as much as we do, they care about profits, and if AI will be able to give them profits for 1/1000 of a human designers' price, then why pay a designer? To make the product slightly better? What for?

Someone telling the truth, bitter truth actually. And the worse part is Designer and developers are the ones that are digging their graves themselves.
@Adrian-Sko

@@uiuxshoaib yep, and all the design influencers on social media keep telling you to be excited about AI, because they're not designers themselves anymore so they don't feel threatened. They're all just content creators who make a living trough teaching design and not being designers anymore themselves. As long as they convince people that the design jobs aren't in danger, they keep getting people to buy their courses. They're selling design courses, not design services, it's a huge difference

I believe you give people way too much credit. I know business owners who make millions that don’t even know how to properly use Microsoft Word.

@@malcolmdavis9638 those business owners are usually boomers, gen X, or late millennials who didn't grow in the digital age. Nowadays everyone grows up around computers, and they are the ones starting new businesses. Even if they don't want to make a site themselves, and hire someone, they're basically going to pay a small price for someone to prompt the site up and set it up. No one's going to pay $5,000 to someone for writing a few prompts.

People saying AI will take over jobs are just wrong. With that logic, lawn mowers would have gotten rid of lawncare businesses. Turbo tax would have put CPAs out of business. And the ability to cook in your home would have ended Meal Prep companies. People pay for the convenience of someone else doing it themselves. I do my taxes every year with Turbo Tax yet see hundreds of people every year going to H&R Block and paying way more. AI will always be a tool because humans are too lazy to do the things they simply don’t want to do. You can easily go grocery shopping but companies like Hello Fresh and Marley Spoon are worth millions.

Even if the potential client, won't make the site themselves, and will hire someone to do it for them, it's no longer going to be a $5,000 gig for a designer. Why pay someone that money, knowing that they do 80% of their job in AI? People won't be willing to pay this kind of money anymore, just for someone to write a few prompts and tweak the output There are going to be MASSIVE paycuts, to the point that web design will no longer longer be profitable.
@malcolmdavis9638

@@Adrian-Skothat goes back to my point. People pay a lot for lawn care. Why pay $100+ to do something I can do for free? Why pay meal prep companies hundreds when I can cook for free? Why pay Ubers Eats ridiculous fees when I can get the food myself? It’s all for convenience. There are people who don’t even know how to use google properly in 2024. Expecting the average small-medium business owner to know how to accurately use and prompt ai (and fix mistakes) is giving people way too much credit.

@@malcolmdavis9638 If there’s a new product in town that will do half my job, won’t I will lose half my income? Let’s say we invented cheap and easy teleportation. Sure, you’d still buy a hot pizza, but would you pay the same rate for delivery? A big chunk of time and service is no longer chargeable.
@malcolmdavis9638

@@kalebkendall4786You as the client don’t decide the chargeable price. You will pay the price that the specific business market offers. I hate paying the fees and price increase for Uber eats. But I pay it to not have to leave my house, get out the car, and do it myself. Same would go for web design. The client doesn’t just decide what the web designer charges. Just like we don’t decide what the services we use charge. We pay or we do it ourselves. And MOST people don’t want to do it themselves. I can easily cut my own hair, but I pay someone a lot of money because I don’t want to do it myself.

@@malcolmdavis9638 You’re right to some extent, but buyers also influence prices, as they should. You don’t think AI will drive design rates down at all? You also have to assume AI will continue to improve.
