Within the heart of Flatbush, Lawrence P. Dorsey founded the beloved Dorsey's Fine Art Gallery in 1961, curating the Black communities most inspiring and eye-catching pieces to be shown to the public. Decades later and the still acclaimed art gallery remains the oldest Black-owned fine art space in all of New York City. Lawrence's passion is carried through his granddaughter Naima Wood to this very day,
theGrio's 'Legacy' explores the lineage of beloved Black-owned businesses, founded during the Civil Rights era, that have withstood the test of time while managing to "keep it in the family."
