Dot Red is excited to announce our first in-person event of the year, titled “Basquiat in Los Angeles” which will take place at the Shutters on the Beach Hotel on Saturday, February 18th, 2023; within the framework of the 2023 Los Angeles Art Week, from 4pm to 6pm.
This is the first in-person event for the year for Dot Red and features a world-class panel surrounding the topic of Jean-Michel Basquiat and his influence in the Los Angeles Art World.
Panelists include well-regarded Art Dealer, publisher, curator, and art historian Fred Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman worked closely with Jean-Michel Basquiat from 1982-1984 and was the chief curator for the Basquiat exhibition at MOCA-LA in 1985. Also joining the panel are prominent LA curator/artist Autumn Breon who invites audiences to participate in the examination of freedom, intersectional identities, and Diasporic memory, and Knowledge Bennett, a self-taught multi-disciplinary visual artist. His body of work archives a pursuit of autonomy and a yearning to operationalize the voice of the visual narrative. Both were influenced by the artist's body of work.
Jeremy Quant, the CEO of Dot Red, will be moderating the event. In addition to debuting our in-person events, we will present our new services for artists and galleries. This will be an excellent event for collectors, artists, curators, and enthusiasts who wish to connect through art and conversation.
Dot Red is a Virtual and Hybrid Art events company advocating for art education and supporting diverse artists and galleries. We are thrilled to present our first in-person event in the city of Los Angeles and provide a platform for our incredible panelists after a long week of L.A. Art Show, Frieze Art Fair and Felix all happening in the city and a space to learn more about the influence that the legendary Jean Michel Basquiat had on a city like Los Angeles, that has become one of the significant epicenters of Art in the U.S.
