I should not be blaming these girls for seeing an opportunity and taking it. But I am still mad at companies like Dote who’s version of diversity is only 1-2 girls of color and 10-12 white girls. It’s just not fair to creators of color who put just as much or more effort than girls like Emma whose videos at the time were just coffee and thrift shop time. So I would like to change “I wish I was white and skinny..” to “I wish people of colour had a fair chance against white creators to become popular on creative apps such as KZitem.”

I 100% bet that if the girls weren’t white, but black or latino, no one would be questioning the diversity. At all. I don’t understand. But because they’re white , all the triggered people get mad that their race wasn’t involved. You don’t see white people getting mad when white people are “excluded” do you? No.
@DawnsWorld

Tyler Tylerr Most white people throw a fit when they are excluded from something all of the time. Are you fucking blind as to how many times that’s happened? Some of you guys always say that “if it was the other way around” shit, like you wouldn’t be bitching. You would. And we’ve all seen it happen a million times but none of you will admit it. Sad. And stop copy and pasting that. Do you feel like some of you can do no wrong? How come it’s rare for me to see white people admitting to shit and not seeing some of them just victimize themselves and then try to turn the tables and say that EVERYONE ELSE EXCEPT FOR THEM is victimizing themselves.

I think companies need to be intentional about being diverse. I can’t help but think of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty. It gained the success that it did because she was intentional about having everyone skin tone, having models that all look different from their skin to their size to their teeth. She was intentional about accommodating all races, and body types. They need to fly out all cultures in the KZitem world. People want to say it’s not about color, but that colorblind mentality doesn’t work. Evidently.
@lisah8438
5 жыл бұрын
Uh no. Companies are not colorblind. If they honestly were it wouldn't be this white. They did it because society still favors light and/or white skin. This was intentional. I'm glad you gave them the benefit of the doubt.

dote has a weird idea of marketing anyway. Their message, or branding, or advertising just gets lost. And the number of girls they send on trips together is super random too. It's like theyre just throwing money out at youtubers to promote their brand and hoping it'll stick. Of course these trips will become clicque because fact of the matter is, it's hard/ near immpossible to hold a conversation with 20 girls at once and get to know that many new people in one hit. dote will flop. It's probably run buy some mega rich person who is throwig all their money into youtuber promotion. But they come off as having no clue and their app is far from orignial.
@denizece3672
6 жыл бұрын
Seth M thank you. I don‘t really watch these girls except for Emma but I became interested when I heard about Dote. As a Marketing Manager I would be very interested in Dote‘s numbers. Their strategy is similar to Victoria’s Secret, not only are the brand ambassadors ‚superstars’, being part of that group also seems exclusive. For VS it makes sense though as they are selling clothing/underwear. But for a shopping mall app? Plus, sure, their strategy helps with awareness but what marketing person decides to pick Emma‘s audience as their own target audience, when the age range is from barely-legal-to-make-a-purchase to high school seniors with low paying side jobs. If you consider all of that, those huge trips with that many people (including employees!) make even less sense. Risky. Very very risky.

+Samantha Signorile I think alot of people (myself included) don't really care abt the aspect of her blowing up because long-term fans (from her first videos) know that she is genuinely, at root, super funny and unique which made her gain that popularity, so therefore we support/supported her whenever she hit that million, etc because we felt she ACTUALLY deserved it. However, you can't just assume people are "jealous" of her becoming big or giving her shit for nothing; it's because we recognize that bc of her growing popularity/clout that she has noticeably changed. I loved her and still support her, but I really can't cry-laugh to her videos anymore bc it just lacks the substance that we all knew before. I mean there might be some ppl here who are like "this random white girl blew up and shes not even funny" bc they're only familiar/see her videos from now, but the majority here making criticism are actually stating what it is lol that it's no longer become this natural/genuine and fresh thing, but more like a branding/style that every one of her friends also conform to. Honestly it's inevitable that she changed, and she will never be able to go back to her "old" persona again, which is sad because we all obviously want to hold onto the good ol' days lmao

i completely 100% agree. so many people are talking about how emma, ellie and hannah we’re leaving everyone out but honestly, they just relate to eachother more so obviously they’re going to hangout more. plus you cant hangout with 15+ girls at once 24/7 ya know? like, i kinda get the diversity thing but i mean, they are big youtubers and they’re good at advertising, it’s not that they don’t like people unless they’re white. idk it just kinda annoys me how everyone thinks everything is about the color of our skin now days, not everything is about that, it just has to do with the people. but i don’t wanna get attacked so i’m just gonna leave that here😂

A long rant ahead; Honestly even on the fiji trip the photographers only put pictures of the famous ones and brynt wasnt even invited yet he went cus of emma The emma hype is getting real boring we get it shes quirky not everyone is supposed to be quirky everyone changed the way they vlog cus of her Haley pham is so original yet got no ‘professional’ pictures because people think emma and haley have beef Kiana is super sweet and so darn pretty only if she was more in videos and pictures Teala dunn needs to end on youtube and everywhere lmao why was she even invited to fiji? Trynna get emmas followers ugh Kamri noel is super sweet and tried to blend in everyones vlogs (according to her vlog) and she was left out on the photoshoot?? I think the photographers only ‘tried’ to take good pictures of the famous ones ie summer, emma, ellie, hannah, hailey, kelsey, both olivias Avery and marla are hella missed they seem the most genuine tbh and fioana she tries to be super inappropriate and trendy to fit in Also hailey, kelsey& sienna are super cute but irritating at the same time The #dotegirls are more like #dontgirls because everyone is super racist in their own way& boring the real ones who have good content get 0 recognition and got no opportunities to be recognised i.e be photographed, be mentioned on the dote instagram or to be in their stories people who make mainstream af vids and cuss are more liked??? Just my opinion lmao

I find a lot of this Emma being a “queen bee” thing sort of ridiculous; I mean y’all seem to forget she’s only like 17 still (I mean all of them are young). She probably cut out Fiona because she wasn’t saying anything interesting or funny, not because she didn’t like her. I mean she has to make the content enjoyable. Then how she hangs out with her friends?? I mean if you’re on a trip with like 20+ other people, and like 5 of them are your friends are you gonna spend most of your time with those five or not? She probably did talk to the rest of the girls and it would be weird to film every small conversation they have “just to get them in the video”. I really feel like this is all a stretch.

Emma is a huge youtuber and she also says she tries to figure out who are her real friends and who are the people who just want subs from her. Its sad to see so many people sucking up to her constantly like yes she has a huge following but she's also not just a number so u can feed off of. i also noticed that in the video it said that if i had went on the dote trip i would want to become friends with emma. That's true, but not in the reason that everyone else maybe seeing it. I would try to become friends with everyone i feel like even though im not that much of an outgoing person. I wouldn't target someone just for their clout. ALSO Dote do better like c'mon...try to show diversity by having 2-4 people of other races and than the others are like typical caucasians you'll see on youtube. The youtube community has obviously blown up...EXPLODED actually.

Nothing wrong with it being mostly/all white. People are too sensitive now a days...if you saw a big group of Asian girls or black girls with no other race, you wouldn't care. That would be a "good" thing probably by the standards now. People gravitate to people who have common interests and personalitys, not skin tone. You sound a tad ignorant. People would not say “where are the white people” in a group full of poc because white people are not the marginalized. It’s the same with shows featuring a full cast of poc, or a ratio where here are more poc than whites (HTGAWM, Black-ish, OITNB, etc.) its a chance to introduce diversity when there wasn’t any before, to change the norm. So no if a group of black girls all went to Coachella no one would complain, bc for many it would be a shock to see bc it isn’t the norm. Believe or not integrating the minority in a majority form is effective.

As a person with colour I’ve gain soo much respect towards you guys, the ones who had the voice to address the issue (being Daniella Perkins, Lisette, Vereena, Kianna and anyone else who had said something about the situation). Personally I haven’t really looked into this whole situation all that well but I just wanna say that it seems really messed up and quite sad to know that our society hasn’t change and might never. Like I said I never really looked into it super well but it seems to me like the other white girls in the trips don’t even realize what is happening and aren’t addressing anything towards it because they’re legit pets for dote, they of course care alot more about getting free trips then helping the coloured girls out. I know the company addressed things about it but I truly feel that they only did it for their own benefit, if they really cared they would have done something about it earlier then when they are getting caught about it. In my life i’ve experienced casual racism towards me and I tend to just try to let go of it but seeing you girls post these videos has really helped me to realize that we have the right to say something and have a voice, we should be treated equally. So thank you Kianna. I know this channel was yours.
