Great video. Used this trick/fix to good success. When my film does get stuck, usually on a splice, I just open the gate and help the film through until it gets going again and just stop the capture. Restart it and I just need to trim the previous clip some to the when the film stopped. One really only loses a quarter or half second, maybe up to one second, of film and that is just not enough for me to worry too much about. The goal is to capture the bulk of the film with decent image quality, at least for the film I have. Good suggestion and it worked for my Wolverine.

8mm never got stuck, but ran my first Super 8 reel and only one section was getting stuck. The paper workaround worked perfectly.

This works !! However because I had to do this fix" so often, the gate close lock has loosened a bit and now on some film the bottom of the frame began sagging (curling) in the "capture zone" before the camera could complete the image. I could see this on the TV monitor during capturing and the digitized data recorded it. If I added a small amount of closing pressure on the left side or sometimes center of gate door the film didn't sag. The added drag required re-framing the Y-axle and re-starting the scan from beginning. Truly without having watched your many help videos I would never even have tried to digitize all my families movies. Over 10,000 feet so far. I still have less than $2000.00 into it and calculate to send them to a pro would have cost the family 4 times that. I simply can not thank you enough.

Thank you very much for the compliment and the thumbs up. I assume you voted the last one which is the 9th as of 8-23 2021. thank you. In case you haven't seen this video on adjusting the press plate here is the link kzitem.info/news/bejne/uomF3mVubox7oW0 I put it out the same day as this I am responding to. I was also thinking there may be a way to push a little fabric under the press plate where the springs are located on the side giving the problem. This fabric if inserted correctly may push down a little more on that one side giving the problem. I have never done it but just an idea if the issue is not able to be fixed by adjusting the press plate itself or your getting desperate. It sounds like you have some rolls of film that were cut or expanded with time a little too wide for the gate on the Wolverine. I had one film and it was only one film that was a little out of focus but was clear on my older machine. I think because it had just enough room on the older machine because there is not a front press plate like on the newer machines. I have only had one film out of the hundreds I have copied. I tried it several times to be sure the pro model could not get it clear. I did not try the paper trick because I did not know about it then. It may have worked for me. Happy copying.

I've seen the video several times and I can't figure out how to locate the piece of paper. Perhaps those of us who use the google translator are in trouble. Is there a way to clarify exactly where the paper should be placed to get the mechanism to pull the s8 film properly? Thanks for any help!

Hi, I'm having a problem with the small metal piece that pushes the sprockets along. It is supposed to pop up into the sprockets to pull them along but it rests underneath the plate so the film can slide right across. It seems that the process has been reversed for some reason. I've tried spraying compressed air in there but to no avail - any help would be much appreciated thank you!

The only thing I can think of is. Below where it says 8mm film on left and super 8 film on the right. There is that slider that needs to be moved to the left for 8mm and to the right for super 8 film. Is there any chance it is stuck in the middle or set to the incorrect film. What I mean by incorrect film. Is it possible it is set for 8mm film but the actual film loaded is super 8 as an example. A person before you may have taken super 8 film and rewound it on a 8mm roll because super 8 will fit on a 8mm roll. I have never had this problem so I am only guessing.

I really do not have an answer for you but I would think of sanding it a little smaller rather than cutting. It would need to be wound up really tight and then sanded with very fine sandpaper. Just an idea I have never done this.

hi, i have such a problem, i bought a used wolverine maker 8 PRO, but it doesn't scan properly, the film in the feed window of the track seems to slip sometimes, the film doesn't move evenly, I don't know what it's causing. it gets better when I push the door of the movie track from the top. Jirka

Sorry I thought you were watching a different video my mistake sent the same link by mistake. Is there any chance that the arm that moves the film itself has a lot of dirt on it. By dirt I mean dust ect.

@@super8tovideo Thank you!, yes it partially helped me, but not completely solved for some films, typically there is a problem with ORWO films. I think that the construction of the scanning window at the wolverine is a child's construction far from how it should be technically solved.

Unfortunately, this method is not good. If you use a piece of paper and do not fully close the carriage, the tape does not fit evenly and scans badly. I figured out a better way. Unscrew the entire plate and lightly file (e.g. with a nail file) the places where the screws are screwed in so that the plate is screwed a little higher. Then the entire film is scanned without any problem.

I am glad to here that worked for you I wonder what happened in the manufacturer shop that made yours where you needed to file it so it would not press down so hard. I also wonder if may be your film is a little different but if you have tried different reels of film from different manufactures then it would be in your machine and not in the film itself. I have never run into this problem.
