Hello. Wisconsin here. I came across your video and it sure does bring back fun memories of my Competitive baton and drum corps days. I started twirling when I was 4 and stopped when I was 21. I got married and had a family. Still have my baton and all my uniforms. Keep on twirling !! ✌️👯♀️💜

I love your videos; I have learned so much from you & am grateful I found you. As a 'mature twirler' I'll never compete or twirl for a crowd at a football stadium -still, I have goals... I'm so close with my fishtails, any chance you will be doing a video on fishtails? 🐠 |>-----------

Hi Abby! I'd like to thank you because this helped me a lot and I'm getting a new baton in the mail soon (I'm using my sister's old nasty one haha) and I'm also going to Kelly's Baton And Poms. (super nervous :p) And you put a lot of time and effort into these videos and taught me stuff I didn't know (turns out I was doing the flourish wrong! :O) Sorry for the long comment but THANK YOU!!! :D

I like the end of the roll, when you bring the right arm up and out. It looks pretty! :) I've usually just continued with both arms going down and out to the sides - always nice with new ideas! I've been taught to catch this trick different (putting the left hand on your right side of the body, under the right arm, palm facing away, and the back of your hand touching the right arm. Hm, it was hard to explain...). In "my way" the baton will do half a turn less. I don't know which way is "better" or more correct, but I think your way may be easier since it could give a split of a second more to figure out when to catch. I'll have to test it on my twirlers... :P As always, thanks for your videos (and sorry for a long, messy comment)! xP

I think I understand how you are catching it. I will have to try it too as it would help with speed in solo competition where as my version is more "showy". Thanks for watching!

I twirl with a group in parades but, there are feature twirlers. One of them cant catch a baton without her hand going over her head and the other one only catches the baton half of the time. Everyone says that I twirl so good and I should be a majorette when im in high school (I'm 10). I really wanna prove that I have what it takes to be a feature twirler for my group! One and Two spins are a big deal for feature twirlers and everytime I try to go for a one spin I get scared ill drop the baton on my head and just turn to the side or backwards! I always get scared when attemting to do new things I don't know how to get over my fear! Any Help/Tips? Please Help Me!

Most importantly, as a baton twirler, you should always encourage others and not put them down for what they can and cannot do. Everyone drops, and everyone has their bad days. As long as they are trying that is all that matters. As for your trick question, you need to make sure you are releasing the baton in front of you and following through with your hand/arm (see my thumb toss and/or flourish thumb toss video). Also you need to make sure you are spinning in one spot on one foot. I plan to have a one spin video out soon, so stay tuned! Twirl on!

Thank You! I have been practicing my One spins for a while and they got really better! I always am sticking up for Jenna (one of the feature twirlers) Because lots of people spread hate on her. I can tell she practices hard! I love watching your videos! My favorites are, Around The World and The Palm Spin!

Sad news I didn't make my middle school majorette team. There was 10 girls trying out and my friend and I both didn't make it. I just don't understand how someone who dropped their baton 3 times could make it while I only dropped once. ( I did everything correctly tho)
@TheAbbyTwirls
10 жыл бұрын
I am sad for you, but I hope you do not give up the sport. Keep trying. As for someone making the team who dropped more than you, there are a lot of factors that could play into who makes a team or wins a competition than just drops. It just depends on what the coach/judge was looking for. Was she looking for skill, good technique/body work, showmanship, or character/personality? Baton is more than just having less drops than the other person.
