The Guide elaborates on the techniques used on the show. The examples given in the kzitem.infoUgkxECnmSvBSv_NGWx4_ChD73pF3NYZwI2F3 are helpful and some of the techniques suggested very useful. One such technique/tool suggested was the lure stick to encourage a small dog to keep up with the heel command. I have a small dog who lags behind smelling any and everything and find it hard to keep bending over while walking to his level. The lure stick is great also for another dogs focus and sprinting at anything that catches her eye. The stories about different dogs, their different temperaments, have been helpful, especially Lulu's: After reading about Lulu's challenges I felt relief concerning one of my rescues that I have had for 10 years. Over many years I have checked out many training books from the library, watched different shows, DVDS, bought training books, taken lessons and this book is the best by far! Kindness, patience and perseverance works.

As a service dog handler, I loved this video!! This just goes to show that not ALL dogs are made for service work! Ryker doesn't seem scared of anything, but he definitely dredges up that emotion in ME! Your video gave me an extra reason to go hug my service dog despite her short-comings - - they are NOTHING compared to Ryker's!! ;)
@HackerActivist
5 жыл бұрын
What are her short commings?
@mavisme4645
5 жыл бұрын
@@HackerActivist - The things that I would call her weaknesses are also some of her strengths. For instance, she's very sensitive. She can sense when I'm getting angry and will start to stare intently at me if she's a distance away, or start nudging me if she's by my side. On the one hand, this display comes from a lack of confidence, but on the other hand, it does work to disrupt my emotional state and she gives me something to touch and focus on. If I'm sitting or laying down at the time, she will ground me by laying across my lap and placing her head on my chest or in my arms. I encouraged this reaction when she first started doing it, despite the fact that I always try to reward stability. However, I can't fake anger for training purposes (besides making the sounds or faces, but I'm sure the smells are all wrong!), so her TRUE reaction is one that comes from insecurity. Does that make sense? Another example: my dog tends to be superstitious and chains things together that I don't know from where they came. She started to associate the smell of tanned hides (?!?) one day at Ikea with something on the ceiling of that building - after that ANY tanned hide caused her to look at the ceiling with concern. A few months later I started to notice that she was giving me the same reaction when we were shopping for belts. Leather in small amounts is fine, but get her around a leather jacket display and she starts looking up at the ceiling. I have an idea of what started all of this, but it wasn't like she had a bad experience in terms of being physically touched or mentally disciplined. She merely freaked herself out that first time. However, because she is a sensitive dog, she will connect experiences that were upsetting to her to all sorts of things in her daily life. (Drop a book on her at Goodwill, and she might associate linoleum to the bad experience instead of the act of a book being held over her, see what I mean?) A more stable dog wouldn't be so bothered by silly little things. Every service dog will have weaknesses to their handler, but those may be strengths to someone else. Weaknesses/strengths can relate to prey drive, calmness, friendliness, food drive, and all sorts of things. Where I want a reserved, calm, stoic dog with little to no prey drive and a mediocre food drive, that might be the opposite of what another disabled person needs. My Mavis is everything I want in a service dog except I wish she were a bit more stable by being emotionally forgiving of bad experiences. I appreciate your interest and would love to hear any thoughts that you might have!

She is just 2, so I will take what I can get and limit her until she gets it all. Thumbs up Ryker you made my day.

0:43 Demolishes bottle of water and makes sure it's absolutely pissed out all over the place and hasn't a drop left before handing it back. The way it ends is perfection. He looks into the camera and you expect it'll fade to black but oh no... Leaves the audience with his arse-end flung out sideways in mid-air.
