Competition #12 has a Double Slalom for all levels.
This demo shows a Preparatory rider in trot. At this level you may also complete the double slalom at walk (more difficulty is assessed for completing the whole obstacle in trot). If you decide to walk the obstacle then it is completed entirely at walk.
At other levels the double slalom is performed at other gaits. Please see the course map directives for these levels.
This demo shows the pattern for completing the double slalom. At the walk and trot levels, a half circle is made around each pole, crossing back on a diagonal after each pole, so that it looks like an ice cream shape (the cone is direction into the circle and the diagonal back, and the half circle is the scoop of icecream).
The rider should aim to cross at the midpoint between consecutive poles. A few steps of a straight line is executed before and after the midpoint following with a change in bend to the other direction.
At higher levels the shape around the pole can be shallower and the change in bend is done with balance without the steps in a straight line.
Each circuit around the poles must be completed with the same size for consistency and keeping an active rhythm.
