Women aren't attractive when they cry, children aren't cute when they cry - crying is NOT aesthetically pleasing, which is why hotness is not the issue here. The reason people get mad at men for crying is because of their idea that men should be strong minded and never show emotion or weakness. Men crying challenges that notion, which prompts backlash in attempt to defend one's own beliefs regardless of validity.

The biggest double standard between genders still exist in law. As a woman you are less likely to get convicted for committing the same crime as a man, this often even includes major crimes like murder. Also if a woman commits a se*ual crime against a guy: If the victim even goes to the police at all (which is already unlikely because of the public shaming), actually convictions are very rare. For the rare cases where they do happen, the punishment is often a joke compared to what a man would get for the same crime. This all even applies if the male victim is a minor; and the woman is something like a teacher. And the more "pretty" the woman is, the stronger this double standard gets. At the same time, if a woman has a "sl*tty" past all her creditability is out of the window if she gets se*ually assaulted by a man and tries to bring him to justice. I think people and societies all over the world just are way more superficial and pre-judgemental as they admit.

Here's a really good double standard NOBODY talks about. Autism is diagnosed in boys much more easily than girls, despite it being found in both genders on roughly equal terms. Autistic women are often misdiagnosed for other things, or just led to believe that they're innately a bad person who needs to do better. I wasn't diagnosed properly until I was 19, and I wonder if being diagnosed as a child would have saved me from so much torment I've dealt with throughout my childhood and teenage years.
@xenotypos
11 ай бұрын
It's not a double standard strictly speaking, it's a difficulty to diagnose because girls and women with autism show less less atypical behaviors then men/boys. A double standard is "volontary", being unable to diagnose as efficiently isn't that, we're just unable to do it. Apart from that, it's impossible to know if as many girls as boys have autism, there is no scientific consensus, the only thing we know is that at the age of 8, 1 in 70 boys and 1 in 315 girls are diagnosed.
@queerantine69

@@xenotyposTo be fair I think that’s their point. That women DO show the same atypical behaviors as men roughly but it generally isn’t labeled the same way even tho it may be the same exact behavior. Often it just gets marked down as “womanly behavior” or some sort of other emotional disorder that doesn’t apply. And by that logic, we then would be able to just diagnose it. Tho, there is evidence to say women are better at masking and that could account for it. I think the main issue isn’t just gender tho but rather it’s hard to diagnose autism in adults in general and missing it when you were a kid almost always leads to a life where you might never know you have it.

Not to mention she GOT AWAY with more than a slap on the wrist, still in arrested for 12 months and also something else for another few months that if she does this crime again, she'll face the full sentence But if it were a male predator that would do it...let's just say everyone will banish him into the shadow realm and won't have even a SHRED of mercy (not that those monsters deserve any, and I mean it in general, any gender, you do the crime, you do the time, no questions) But if a girl does it? Pffft Ah, it's fine, she's pretty enough and well, I think HE should man up and enjoy that he had fun. I have no words for people with this mindset (sure I have a fricked up mindset too but at least I know when to draw the fricking line and know that something like this is beyond fricked up) and I only hope the best for any victims and any of those monsters get jail time. Double Standards, AT LEAST ABOUT THIS!! Should NOT be accepted by society, idc if she's a pretty woman, like I said before and not really my comment (kudos to the guy who said it which may be a lot of you actually) "You do the crime, you do the time." For the last double standard about childcare, I’m giving the benefit of the doubt. I believe this affects both sexes, but in different ways. In the women’s case, what you said is very true. I definitely agree with your points. In men’s cases, is that when the divorce unfortunately happens, about 95% of the cases are won by women to keep care of the children and they get paid way more than they should. Even if the mother might have some type of addiction or is not a better parent than the father, she usually wins the case. This system is unfair and there have been cases where mothers have abused it for the benefit of getting money without doing much work.

This is reflected even in media memes about father dipping or calling dumb people "fatherless" are at their peak. Do i also even need to mention the "bad father" troupe in cartoons where the main characters dad is a deadbeat? Adventure time, Gumball, do I need to list more? There's no world in which abandoning your family is a remotely tolerated thing by a father or a mother for that matter society hates it when either happens and the remaining parent is expected to take care of the child cuz...why the hell would you leave a child without that pivotal relationship? @azrael5232

The sad thing about double standards is you can usually explain why they exist and even defend why the double standard exists in a lot of cases. The part where it breaks down is people use the double standard to an unreasonable degree and that is where the negatives come from. Like as you said, girl who's broke doesn't want a broke guy cause she wants to improve her life, but then wants the extreme minimum 6 figures, or a girl who is 4 "11 doesn't want a guy below 6ft. And for the other way around, a lot of guys don't really expect virgins, but the more partners a girl has the more baggage she brings from past relationships and the unspoken rule that the more she will compare you to past relationships making the pressure to preform higher, but then going to the extreme of wanting a girl with no history at all. Sometimes a double standard is completely reasonable, for a reasonable person. But the world seems to be filled more and more by people who are extremely unreasonable and will bend anything into their line of thinking so they never have to wrestle with that.
@paulcashew5795
11 ай бұрын
Well it's not really that double standards are reasonable. It's just that people can almost always rationalize any ideas they have, making it seem justified. It seems that people underestimate the immense influence that cultures have on our world view, and people assume that their ideas or values are logical and based on objective reality. It's not to say that our culture is purely brainwashing society. Conditioning is a part of our psychology and occurs without intention. But it's important to realize that double standards are inherently unfair, there is no way to justify it, but only explain its existence. And it's reason for existence should not be mistaken as a justification.

In your first point, it happens in movies because irl the first case is basicaly impossible, if you are the nerdy dude, is seem as a weirdo or have problems starting conversations (these 3 generally come as a package) you are doomed, you will be playing the game at the hardest difficulty Is either change, die alone or win the lottery Now, with the oposite, it only takes the woman to start the conversation, a shy woman is not seem as undesirable or creep (like men are), and more often than not being shy will be seem as cute Problem here being: women do not start conversations

@@tadow_od Sorry, I should've elaborated further in what I meant by that. Nerds are just people with a great interest in a niche field, but what we are speaking of are steriotypical nerds, they have 3 defining traits: - Interest in niche field - Not the best appearance - Lack of social skils (ususally either being introverted or socially anxious), which will result in being a social outcast or joining groups of like minded individuals The third one is the most important between them, if you don't fall there you will not even be seem as the steriotypical nerd. And the thing is, guys with poor social skills will be seem as creeps/weirdos unless they are handsome, while the situation with girls is different, having social anxiety or being an introvert is seem by other people as being shy (they don't have a way to understand you situation), and so, unless you are very ugly*, you are just shy girl with niche interest. The only people that dislike you for that are the assholes (but there is no point in having interest in them in the first place) and other girls The average guys see this (nerdy girls, which for them = shy girl with niche interest) and doesn't think anythinhg more than "Look, a shy girl, cute" and nerd guys will see them as basically unicorns (on pair with the ancient legends of the tomboy gf), it just take these girl to actually start a conversation once in their life, men will hardly reject you unless you are aiming too high (and even them it still has a good chance of working) *Being ugly will make everything worse, for both guys and girls, people subconsciously judge you for your appearance, but is the most treatable of the traits (working out, having a good hair cut and clothes that match your style makes wonders for how you look), unless you have some major facial problem, then you are fucked TL;DR: for outsiders, nerd guys = weird creep, nerd girls = shy girl with niche interest
@reaper5489

@@Mercury-ok8ie Unfortunately true ... But is aways important to note, they are not alone because they hate women, they hate women because they are alone. Their hate is created by an extended period of loneliness and sadness, they grow up as outcast and have nothing to support them, and as a cope mechanism your brain start to shift all your sadness in hate for those that put you there (in this case the women that aways ignored them or treated them as trash, and the world, that made them this way) What makes this even worse, is that they don't truly hate women, they hate themselves, they hate their own failures and their lives. Being constantly exposed to their desire while being unable to achieve it also makes their lives even more miserable, so they turn to the only group that will understand and support them, themselves.

talking about the childcare one, it’s weird how the “fatherless” insult is directed towards the child? my brother in christ, the child did not choose to be fatherless? why isn’t it an “i’m sorry your father wasn’t present in your life” (then again a lot of the “fatherless behaviors” are just things people don’t like and have nothing to do with absence of a father, like furries or dream stans)

The child doesn't choose to be fatherless but they are deemed lesser than because it's perceived that they weren't worthy enough for the father to stick around. This also extends to orphans who lack both parents. The world deemed them unfitting of love from either parent. I don't think people make this association consciously.

I don’t mind if someone wants to sleep around a ton as long as they are at least honest and up front about it and stick with other people who also want that. I think that’s better than treating having lots of sex like it’s “forbidden” cause then yea people will just do it in secret and be curious. With the last point, its a 100% two way street. You should really see how single fathers are treated. Dirty looks and comments like "Oh you're babysitting today" are all too common. Not to mention a single father at a playground will garner side-eyes and get looked at like a predator, whereas a single mother will not. Dads also always have to fight for their kids because CPS prefers to keep kids with the mother in any, no matter how bad, situation. Its up to the father to "prove" the mother is an unfit parent, and even if he does the likelihood he'll be awarded any form of child support is still lower. 63% of mothers get awarded/agreed child support, whereas only 38.6% of dads do. In short, double standards are a bitch. Everyone gets a short stick somewhere and we either can't do/aren't doing anything about it.

another double standard i’ve encountered is mental health and emotions. If a guy is sad, has to cry, etc. he is seen as „weak“ and is told to „man up“. Not to mention if he wants to go to therapy! But if he gets angry, no one even bats an eyelash! If a woman is sad/cries, people will support her, but if she gets angry, she’s “overreacting” and “unstable”.
@pudgesnextturnaround3112

Yeah it's really sad to think about, males should get the help they needed, we can't just tell them to man up, they need alot more support, men and women should be treated equally, if there's a crime and a man or woman did the crime they should go to jail, that's very unfortunate if men are treated this way, and while women they get the quote on quote, princess treatment, which is very depressing and while men gets the quote on quote no helpful treatment at all they're forced to not show any emotion, which is very sad.

Child care? a woman has the choice to opt out whenever, they can put a child up for adoption without even telling the father. Man has no option for that. Actually I find it a double standard on both sides in a very messed up way. Men are almost expected to be dead beats as well, men are also seen as “unnecessary” in parenting but women are seen as essential. Women can freely give up their parenting responsibilities at birth, while a man is enforced by law to provide financially for the child upon penalty of jail Really messed up double standards for both sides, and unfortunately the child is the one who suffers from these messed up roles and expectations

3:00 I always imagined those implications when the girl's and guy's height difference is by that big margin. Because with basic statistics, she's either going to be stretched so loose, it'll be looser than doorknobs or a trip to the ER, if she's freaky like that. (But what do I know? I just know a moderate amount of information in a media site where my painfully average intellect is greater than the average person on this site who are 20-35.)

It would be funny if women actually could be able to get looser by s3xual experiences, however, it's a myth that has been debunked by science itself many times, a woman's g3nitalia can get damaged but it can't get looser by a p3nis, and the p3nis will have to be actually big and wide to be able to do that, otherwise it will only hurt. Being tall doesn't mean having a big p3nis. (The whole 'women get looser by s3x' encourages the first women's double standard that Tommy talked about and it's just a way to get women to not sleep around, y'know, mainly for dads who don't care if their sons get 45 women pregnant in a day yet they restrict their daughters to go near a boy because they refuse to sexually educate their daughters and because they are too stupid to take care of their teenage daughters who got pregnant. Even if their sons could probably go to court by child neglected, y'know, getting women pregnant and dipping.)
