@@torgoron9695 It means you lack sufficient ketone production in the last hours. Lower your carbs and increase fats. Also make sure you have more electrolytes. If possible, just go full keto diet, you will never get brain fog again as your body will adapt to create ketones so readily

@@Odyssey-tr8mt Thanks for that very helpful hint! I'll give it a try to lower my carb intake. It will be hard, because meals together with family always include carbs for me. 1 How about exercising in the period when the body transitions to fat-burning? Would that stimulate ketone production? 2 I'm also of the type "hard to gain weight" and I'm not having much body fat. Do you think that also contributes? But I'll find out, once I've tried full keto 3 Would e.g. MCT oil help stimulating ketogenisis?
@Odyssey-tr8mt
2 жыл бұрын
@@torgoron9695 Hey. Sorry for the late reply. Great, no problem most people start with similar problems! I can't speak for everybody but In general what I know is that adding fat to your diet nudges your body to use ketones more when you are fasting (even better are something called ketone esters). If you always have high carbs, your body will try and work through using that first rather than going fat adapted. So yeah a basic solution is to lower one and increase the other. Extra virgin olive oil is great to add to food, in my opinion :) If you still like carbs and handle it well maybe try having some low glycemic carbs like brown bread, different types of pasta and rice or just reduce the portions and replace with fiber vegs foods with added fat (like EVOO oil). This will lower your insulin spikes when you eat at least and you won't have as much variability in blood glucose levels hopefully. Also the fat satiates you 1) Exercise will for sure help speed the process by depleting your glycogen stores more. Note though if you are not yet fat adapted and are transitioning, while still on high carbs you will likely get the hunger pangs and some cravings till you adapt. If you can cold turkey it fine, sure probably it's faster :) 2) Yeah if you find it hard to gain weight you might be lucky enough to not have high insulin problems yet while you're eating carbs all day :D? Too high insulin resistance would make you add weight easy. Everyone is different, and it changes with age, so if this is true for you today don't rely on it being true in old age ^^ 3) I've heard it does yes, it makes sense it would too. If you are skipping breakfast maybe some MCT oil in coffee will help you

Hi @Mark Hoey!! Autophagy depends on your glucose level.. You should burn the bolus glucose(excess glucose comes from food) in your blood and stored glycogen in muscle and liver.. If you take low to no carbs before fasting and do some moderate exercise, you should get into autophagy much quicker.. It should be between 24-36 hrs.. Ginger tea, green tea, black coffee helps into getting in autophagy faster while fasting..

I experienced a plateau after a couple months. I took 3 days off from 16/8 (eating between 1200-2000) and ate 3-4 meals a day, all Whole Foods except one night had 3 slices of pizza and a few beers. Went back to strict keto for one week doing 16/8 then went on a 3 day water only fast, except one black coffee in the morning then a cup of green tea in the afternoon. Once I was done with the 3 day fast I went back to 16/8, eating between 0800-1600. This helped me break through my plateau. Since then I keep varying my eating window and once a week eat OMAD,and once a week have a meal that is what ever I feel like eating. For the most part I eat 98% Whole Foods and low carb, good fats, my protein comes from beef, chicken, eggs, and salmon. I have a salad every day with chia seeds, EVOO, balsamic and apple cider vinegar. Different vegetables and sweet potatoes a couple times a week. This worked for me and I feel great. And once a week I have a couple jack and gingers (zevia) with a lemon twist!
