I'm totally against people getting plastic surgery. It's just wrong to change how you look. It's not you. Even if people comment and tell you how beautiful it's not actually you they're complimenting. I think we should stop telling people it's okay to do whatever you want with your body. It's causing young girls to have an unrealistic expectation and compare themselves to people who don't naturally look the way they appear. I think that most of us are thankful we weren’t able to have plastic surgery as a teen. For one thing, a teenager’s aesthetic is not always the most timeless or tasteful. Teens can be fickle and easily influenced. And that’s ok- the teens and early twenties are all about trying new things, discovering who you are, and learning to be confident and comfortable in your own skin. I think those are lessons worth learning before making permanent changes.

I think these teens he’s speaking about are in Hollywood in which they are trying to get into to the industry or are already in it probably they aren’t influenced similarity to HS. Agents, casting directors other celebrities are influencing them to have work done. As well as once you get started you become more particular about other things. I don’t know many teens that have gotten the fox wye surgery, like Bella Hadid. That seems to be more a Hollywood/Influencer trend for the youth.
@Beeleeteecee

@@KeenKoala115 Point taken. I agree. But it’s still sad that changing oneself so permanently is commonly the price of pursuing “fame,” and even then most won’t end up realizing their dreams anyway. Plus with social media, I do notice an explosion of young people getting procedures in hopes of getting more followers/ becoming Instagram or TikTok famous or whatever. Typically when young people are insecure about their looks, it’s nice to have adults in their lives reassuring them that they’re perfect the way they are, that no one notices their little perceived imperfections except for themselves, and that it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Imagine being a teen and having your agents/ managers/ parents discussing each little thing that is wrong with you and how to fix it. That’s got to have some lasting psychological effects. Being a star seems glamorous and enviable but it’s tough too. Fame definitely comes at a cost.

One of my school friends was from a very wealthy family, and more than once during early 8th grade (we were both not quite 14) when I was at her house visiting, I witnessed screaming matches between her and her mother over my friend having a nose job. She had a slight dorsal hump and a very minor "Roman" nose side profile (I know that's not the correct terminology, and it's not meant to be an insult, I'm a huge fan of that look), and her mother was trying to force her into having a rhinoplasty to "fix" her nose, which my friend vehemently did not want to do. Halfway through the year, my friend was pulled out of school and sent to an interstate boarding school, which none of us, her friends, were expecting. Rumours started circulating that people had seen her around town during the school holidays in between the change of schools, with a nose splint and then very bruised nose and black eyes (She had porcelain, almost translucent skin). Apparently she was telling anyone who asked that she had a skiing accident where she smashed her nose into the top of her ski pole. I ended finally catching up with her when she was home for the next lot of school holidays and was shocked at her nose - it looked unnaturally small and pinched. She seemed so uncomfortable in her own skin, it made me so sad that her mother forced her idea of the "perfect" nose onto her 14 year old child, permanently. My friend gave me the story about having to have her nose "fixed" after the skiing accident, and I just played along, but we both knew it wasn't true. Thirty years later, I see her on Facebook, and her nose still doesn't look right for her face, it looks even smaller on her adult face. She never really regained that same sparkle in her eyes imo. I remember her mother being so toxic, constantly criticising her appearance, she'd call her fat - She was actually underweight and counting calories since primary school - and take her to salons for waxing and spray tans from a very young age. She was such a sweet girl, she had everything money could buy but I know she would have swapped it in a heartbeat for parents who loved and accepted her as she was.

This is straight up child abuse to allow a child so young to go through with cosmetic procedures that aren’t reconstructive in nature. There’s no other way to say it. Even if it was her idea it is still abuse in the form of neglect by her guardian(s) to grant her permission. Her plastic surgeon was also unethical to not put a stop to it. I remember seeing Dove for the first time on an episode of The Mentalist and being struck with how pretty she was and how I wished her character was brought back for more appearances. So as a consequence, I began to follow her and until now, I had always thought she was a naturally resplendent beauty with a professional, in-depth skincare routine. I guess I'm starting to see why people say 'nobody looks like that - even they don't look like that'. And while I support people doing what they want with their bodies as adults, I feel bad knowing that beauty standards and outside pressure from adults are what drive children to surgically alter their faces while they're still growing. And worse, that I'm a part of that problem since it's Dove's beauty that struck me in the first place and started my journey as a fan. Thank you for the video, though - I enjoy the clinical nature of how you break down procedures and remain respectful at all times. One thing I'd be interested in learning on videos like these is if you think there's a reasonable time-frame for healing from all of these procedures, while knowing that these actors are often filming within the timeframe the procedure would've had to take place. Things like nose surgeries, to my very limited understanding, have long healing times for swelling and discoloration. Are there further procedures that can be done/injections that can be accessed to mitigate some of that time/the outward effects that you suspect might be employed? Thanks again~ I only recently discovered this channel and am greatly enjoying learning from you ^^

Yes. Even smallest of changes can make us feel that something isn't right. First thing I personally noticed were her lips, they look a bit artificial for her face. When I was a teen during summer I got stung by a wasp in my upper lip. The venom somehow moved/burst under skin and a big welt became enormous. My whole upper lip up to my nose looked like a duck face. At school my friends asked if I had a filler, because naturally I had a full bottom lip, but a smaller upper lip. Now they look equal. And even a decade later it hadn't changed 😂. It such s small thing, but apparently totally changed my face.

I've been following Dove for a while, and honestly I think the way she has changed aesthetically since last year, going darker with her visuals, makes her look kind of sickly? It just really accentuates how pale she has become along with her weight loss it's made me not love her visuals as much as I used to. I feel as though she has potentially had a pony-tail facelift sometime in the past year/year & a half and tied in with her makeup really accentuates angles and the sharpness of her visuals now. More power to her if this is the look that she's loving now, I just really loved her blonde hair, feel like it gave her a healthy glow look to her, and didn't make her plastic surgery as prominently seen.

Looking at her picture aged 12, I think Dove would have matured into having a very distinct look....now she looks like 1000s of other girls 😕 I'm 53, I can remember only a few friends having hang-ups about particular features as teenagers; one friend had a fairly prominent curved nose which she hated ...she 'grew into it' and it's definitely part of her distinctive beauty. Disagree. I have never given one singular fuck about what society/anyone wants me to look like. Genuinely, idgaf. But I have a weird jaw, a crossbite that causes me to hold my jaw slightly to the left because my teeth are fucking weird. My teeth are luckily fairly normal looking (in the front, anyways. We don't talk about my molars), but because I have spent all my life holding my jaw weird, the bone structure actually adjusted to make that the new normal. So the only way to fix my jaw to make the bottom half of my face not horribly asymmetric is to surgically break my jaw and re-set it into the correct position, on top of a bunch of tooth fuckery. It's the only part of my body I want to change. For both cosmetic and non cosmetic reasons. It leads to me biting my tongue more often than normal, and it also gives me headaches and muscle tension because why the fuck not ay? And it's always annoyed me that my jaw was crooked. It's always at the back of my mind. Not because of anyone other than myself. I don't want a different shape jaw, I just want it to not be crooked. Tl;dr : girl bitches about her jaw

"Intrinsic" in terms of motivation just means a person does something because they enjoy it. I think what he means is that he wishes people would just do it because they themselves like the result rather than doing it for others.
@clared5812

Disagree. Humans intrinsically have a sense of beauty and aesthetics. Everyone’s taste/preferences are different, which means that sometimes you are born with a look or feature that you don’t find attractive. Or, sometimes you just want to look different, so your outsides can better match your insides. This is why piercings, spacers, hair dye, tattoos, etc, have all existed since the earliest age of humanity. And why styles such as emo exist, it is radically different than anything natural, not better or worse, just different. Not everyone will naturally want to resort to surgery to change their look or fix their perceived flaws, but some might. People have been changing their own appearances since people have existed. The desire to look a certain way 100% can be intrinsic.

I had my first around 12-13 years of age; I had protruding ears, a trait inherited from my dad (he passed that on to 2 out of 3 children and 2 out of 3 grandchildren, lol), alongside thin hair, a bad combo. He has not been fond of them, either, so he was very supportive, and his first child (much older than me) had already had surgery at this point.

I would not have guessed the 12-year-old photo was the same person!!! She could have been so distinctively gorgeous, too. I absolutely loved everything about her face that was erased before she was seventeen. Specifically the shape and position her eyebrows, her larger nose, and her thinner lips. In the 1700s people would have been dying to look like her natural face. Now - she looks almost not human. That is really sad.

i admire your agyo-sal under eyes. your look is really charming and warm and the absence of hair further accentuates your beautiful features (๑♡⌓♡๑) i am a portrait painter so we both specialize on facial aesthetics, heh

Its genuinely sad that hollywood makes these young people feel like they need to complete change their face by the age of 25.

I don't know why but she looks so much more like her younger self pre-op now, than she did a couple of years ago. Except for the fox eyes and the buccal fat removal she looks very natural, which she didn't in 2017-2021. Maybe it's her makeup or that she stopped tanning (at some point she looked orange), but her features aren't that hard anymore.

If you look at photos where she is 13/14, you'll see her original nose

The first picture you use as her starting point i think she already have at least a nose job there. If you search her pictures on the show shameless, it gives a better perspective on what her face used to look like.

If it's not simply aging and losing baby fat, it's a shame she's changed her face so much. I think she was very beautiful naturally and part of her charm were her neotenous features. The more structured look does not suit her. Or maybe she just looks more mature due to age. Who knows 🤷♀️

Dove had all this work done and I feel as though she still won’t be happy, such a sad thing to get tangled up in!
