This is a great trick and I suppose the remaining decimal of a millimeter would easily be removed with sandpaper. In baltic birch plywood I've found that boring the nut hole the same size as the nut's flat or slightly larger then guiding the nut to seat squarely with the appropriately sized bolt assures a fit that is both quick and irreversible. I seat the nut by drawing up another washered nut on the bolt side of the hole. I hope this isn't too hard to translate. Please forgive me for getting somewhat off-topic.

Very good video (like always!) The only disappointment was to see a DeWalt and not a Makita. ;) I very much like your simple and at the same time elegant ideas. If using very large nuts (wide diameter dowels), I think a battery-powered drill will break, but if one use a corded drill, it will probably be strong enough. In a couple of months, I might try this with a M27 nut, so I'll get a 1 inch "dowel" (which I'll polish with sand-paper afterwards).

Hello friend 68HC060 Thank you for always watching my video And thank you for your polite and wonderful comments As you say, using a corded drill is a good idea, rest assured! !! By the way, should I choose Makita over DeWalt? !! !! Makita and Hikoki are very popular in Japan, so I chose DeWalt. My favorite ^^ Thank you from Japan
@68HC060
3 жыл бұрын
@@TachiOhyo56 =) You very much deserve to know that you're doing well. Hikoki is not known in Denmark (where I live) - I don't think they're very known in Europe or USA. But Makita made it all the way here, they make a very good quality and they care about precision, their products and their customers. DeWalt may be robust, but they do not care as much about their customers. Festool (former Festo) is also a brand I am very pleased with (also a quality brand, expensive, but definitely worth purchasing). JSK-Koutbou, which you know, made me start buying Shinwa (just by using them in his shop); those are such wonderful products. I've also purchased special japanese made Stanley-compatible irons for my handplanes; so I now get the excellent cut from a Kanna plane while keeping the comfort of the western plane. I want to support Japan as much as I can. People from Japan care very much about details, their customers and making things last. I will try looking for Hikoki - and I still also need to purchase a few japanese handsaws.

@@68HC060 Hello Makita is a company in my area, I know that, as you say, Makita values its customers and is of outstanding quality. But I didn't choose it I'm weird! Hi This is again a very handy Jig. This is the very first time I've seen dowels made this way. Do you think these will last a long time? Did you come up with the idea yourself? I can already see it, for every size an casteled nut, a number underneath and no more problems. It is also no longer necessary to align a chisel or a planer blade. Wouldn't a castlenut be more convenient to start from? Thanks again for sharing. Keep it safe, it is not over yet. Willy from Belgium. 😷😷😷

Hello Willy I'm glad you came to see me today. And your lovely comment is my joy. I came up with this idea, but the world is wide! !!
