This was filmed in 2011, since then there has been road construction every summer, I they plan on finishing them all in about 2 years, but they are already much improved since this was filmed. It's a great city to visit if you've never been here, very underrated for what it has to offer.

There are some neat places in the city, like the Third Ward, Brady street, Mitchell Domes and St. Josephatt Basilica on south 6th, and many spectacular sights just beyond the city. Cedarburg, 15 miles north of downtown, is considered by some the most scenic small town in the state, with a preserved main street, waterfalls and covered bridge. Holy Hill and the scenic drive around Kettle Morraine is beautiful. That is 25 miles from Cedarburg. And for those with a little extra time in their schedule, Door County is 3 hours north. It is a peninsula dotted with quaint towns. Even the drive to DC, along highway 42 is worth the extra 45 minutes it requires. The Southwest quarter of the state, known as the "Driftless" because the glacier never passed over it, is full of rolling hills and valleys, without the rock formations that are seen in the other parts of the state. Wisconsin is full of spectacular landscapes, small scenic towns, and very friendly residents.

Wow has my city changed so much in less then a decade!! Dude I kid you not, if you come back and re-film this, there’d be SUCH an difference lol. It looked nice back then but now we’ve re-done the whole downtown highway/freeway structure, we have a brand new very tall and beautiful all glass skyscraper added along our other skyscrapers, the Milwaukee Bucks have an brand new state of the art arena that has re-vamped the entire northwest part of our downtown and a bunch of new high-rise condominiums!! It’s actually amazing seeing how not too long ago you’ve filmed this and the difference it is today! Wow just wow! Great job Milwaukee

The Third Ward was considered tired part of the downtown area, but no longer. Preservationsits in WIs have done wonders for different communities. Two beautiful landmarks in Cedarburg, the large Catholic church on the south end of town and the Washington House hotel, were both in danger of being torn down in the mid 1970's. Both were preserved. The Mayor of Cedarburg in 1975, fought to preserve the Catholic church in town, despite the Msgr / pastor wanting to have it torn down. Never could figure that one out.

@@maxsmith695 what I heard about Chicago back in those days wasn’t bad and I mean south side Englewood for example...now those days are over there Chicago’s bad yeah, but has almost 3 million people so of course all those murders but for the fact ratio is the realistic evaluation Milwaukee is worse matter a fact Milwaukee is the 6th most dangerous cities in America. Chicago 15% of homicide where Milwaukee 18% chance and I been all thru south side of Chicago late at night on weekend 10pm-2am, nothing happened didn’t even hear gunshots...where as in Milwaukee you don’t even gotta be in the dark cuz you still get shot at a park. I’ve almost gotten shot 4 times on north side 11th and Locust, south side 23rd and Becher, 14th and Grant, 15th and Arthur and when I was young 26th and Grant...moral of the story, I feel safer in Chicago at night than Milwaukee in morning, evening and night

@@asrealasitgets7798 I worked at 27th and Wells, and 8th and Mitchell. Streets totally safe before 1984. The police chief was exceedingly stern with the public, esp POC, and the streets like 16th, Wisconsin, Wells, 3rd, Burleigh, etc. were flooded with police cars, all the time. The 100 man Tactical Squad, drove 3 officers to a car and in their unmarked cars, roamed the inner city. From Brady and Farewell to National and 6th up to 35th over to 35th and Hampton. They worked with about 8-9 units on duty at one time, in the evenings, and were hand picked for their toughness. Add in Judge Seraphim, who gave exceedingly long prison sentences to lawbreakers, like 5-10 time longer than others and the streets were very quiet most days. The Police chief always got a standing ovation year in the annual July 4th Schlitz parade though downtown. After 1984, there were many changes made to policing the city, and lawbreakers seems to get the upper hand by 1990. Many businesses exited to Ozaukee county or Waukesha county and those departures, changed the character of the city. My guess is the influx of immigrants into the city, will change it back to a safe area. Whether those are from Mexico, Africa or the Middle East. These cultures often settle in an area with many, many extended family, buy the homes and begin businesses. I have seen this with the Chaldean culture, Somali culture and Mexican culture in which they moved into depressed areas, and made them much better and crime vanished !

Poor Milwaukee; it's like the little kid that receives no respect, compared to big brother Chicago. After extensively exploring Milwaukee in Google Streetview, I would have to say it's one of America's most underrated cities; certainly worth a few days of exploration. A lot of gentrification has taken place in the last decade. I can only imagine the potential bonanza of development that'll eventually take place along the former ROW of the old Park Freeway. Nice song, by the way.
