this is so much more interesting than those 2 minute interviews where its all about a soundbyte and nonsensical questions. Hope he doesn't get eaten up by Hollywood, I love his success. He & Chiwetel are just refreshing to see, we need more young Black actors & actresses who are actually good.

Idris is such a major actor. I hope somebody writes a movie for him like "On the Waterfront" where he can perform big, huge, heartbreaking scenes that will be eternal. People want him to be the black James Bond. I see him as the black Brando.

This is my favorite interview of Idris Elba, The other takes of him are still very good, but here he's really being more him-self. He's eh realllllllllll artist ! Passion, compassionate and dynamic ! I'm sure he could be a pain-in-the-ass,... to. but thats life. I just hope he does not try to do to much to soon and get burn't out. My trainning as a actor/filmmaker can really relate (with love) to whats being said here so thats why I fully get it....! aloha from Maui. Leah Tunkara

Wow. I am not a crazed groupie but I imagine the perfect man and Idris is better. This guy has such range. I saw "Luther" and it is Great. I have never seen a roll so complex, it really leaves you wanting more so kodos to all the creative minds involved... Great Mustache!

You are so right! On the Waterfront would be a great part for him. Quite honestly, I think he could do anything. A great actor. I hope Hollywood does not hurt him. He is so much more than American movies and tv!

You know I kind of feel like his roll as "Luther" is a lot like a Batman in that he was a good guy that blurred the line between the "law" and "the right thing". But I see where you're going. He's just great.

When the film industry comes within a million miles of being colorblind, I will never ask a question about being any race again. Same with working in the industry as a woman. Until then, I think that, especially in a context where there is no editing and there is time to have a full conversation about it if the talent wished, the question has to be asked.

I don't know about Idris but I'm particularly tired of ppl asking him about being a "black" actor. honestly how many times must he be asked the "how's it going as a black actor" question??? get off it already!

While were bringing up roles he might be good in, I humbly propose the Batman. Iris has shown us with Luther that he can be intimidating while still relatable, and Grimm without coming across as overacted. I think he could bring the classiness of Bruce Wayne and the Presence of Batman to the table.

it might be necessary but it really is annoying, I mean why ask if its not going to change anything...btw I liked his answer as well. I've watched him answer this same question in 4 other interviews and his answer is almost always the same. I ♥ him

"There's no such thing as a black actor." well said just as there is no such thing as a white or blue actor. There are only actors and actresses's.
