Thank goodness for open, conscientious, averagely extraverted, disagreeable, stabile people.

I once went on a big multi-day adventure hike with several friends. One of them is a strict no-alcohol vegan. This fellow said the exact same words: "Food is fuel for your body." He was open to this new adventure, but he still had a healthy attitude towards food. There is no reason that being "open" needs to be at odds with eating a healthful diet. I think that we also do people a disservice when we tell them to "give up" their favorite foods. Instead, we need to make them understand that we want to teach them a new healthy relationship with food where they can enjoy their food without worrying that what they're eating is killing them. Just my $0.02.

It's all down to variation. I'm 100% open and I always try new things. It gets in the way of constant healthy eating yes and many other things. Maybe he's also not very reactive to food, or not at the extremes of openness like me.

does Doctor Lisle have any plans to make The Pleasure Trap into an audible book I love to listen to these books for Drive I usually don't have a lot of time to read [as much as I love it] as I work 70 hours a week

It's not a terribly long book, about 150 pages. If you have some time to spare, it's definitely worth reading since the audio is not out :(

Very interesting video. I had always thought I was a pretty open person, but I didn't fit much of that profile. I'm not a novelty-seeker, and was always a "picky" eater.

Is there a questionnaire that can indicate where we fall along the five continuae?

Some lists of 5 include neuroticism, some include stability. Neuroticism & stability aren't the same thing, so is there actually a big six? (Neuroticism and conscientiousness have sometimes been considered the same, but on many lists they're both listed.)

Not the same, Conscientiousness is the imperative to do the right thing, Nevroticism is about being emotionally reactive

Lack conscientiousness seems to be more off putting than say disagreebleness, or instability, or openness

What do you expect? The guy had a stroke at the age of 18, he put more of his time into studying and medical work than lifting weights, and he never used steroids. What makes you believe that McDougall can't ride a bike or engage in public speaking?
