@@BagzAndPresident no it's not. The amount of pollution caused by the burning of fossil fuels, including 92 octane fuel is magnitudes, let me say that again - MAGNITUDES more than the emissions caused by digging up the materials for electric batteries (lithium and cobalt) as well as any pollution caused by the decay of any old battery COMBINED. I am a climate scientist. You don't know what you are talking about. The only harm old batteries cause to the environment are due to inappropriate disposal, which may result in the leakage of things like Nickel and Manganese into water sources. Unfortunately there is no way to appropriately burn fossil fuels. I say that to highlight the fact that the harms caused by burning fossil fuels are fundamental to the burning process, whereas the harms caused by old lithium batteries are not innate to their disposal. Regardless, any pollution that does happen from EV batteries still results in less pollution just by sheer volume of toxic waste, as well as less deaths. Again, you don't know what you are talking about. Just parroting the same factually incorrect statements that the fossil fuels industry has lied about for years.
