Wilko is truly the DADDY! Never seen anyone play an axe quite like that - before or since. Had the privilege of seeing 'em live a coupla times in the late 70's and this vid is quite restrained. Wilko was a true borderline mentalist! :)

At the risk of repeating myself, I love this band. Promoted them in Dundee in 1979, and instead of soundchecking they went to the pub. Not even The Pogues did that. God bless them.

One of my biggest regrets is that I didn't take up the offer to go and see the Feelgoods' gig in Lewisham SE London in '75. The offer was there - I just couldn't bring myself to go with you (ancient!!) sister: I was 14 she was 22! Lee Brilleaux - I was in love even then RIP x and Wilko, well. He is magical. All these young guns who think they are so unique should look at this: he was before his day. Any what a guitarist!

It's not punk if you want to define it in some narrow sense. But has a punk ethos of sorts. It's rough and ready, and is dripping with attitude and street savvy. That's why the best in British pub rock/ r'n'b still looks and sounds great today, while a lot of "punk" from the late 70s looks hopelessly dated now.

I remember watching a BBC programme about the best of the Old Grey Whistle Test, many years ago and most of it was poor. It was travelling through the 70's and was mostly glam and Prog rock crap and I was about to switch it off. It then got to 1975 and this came on and completely blew me away. How many songs in 1975 lasted only 2 mins and 39 seconds? Pink Floyd's intros were longer than that! Short concise and absolutely brilliant

What can I say that hasn't been said above. Saw them countless times and Wilko solo too. A guitar god, the tightest rhythm ever and the nicest bloke in Rock'n'Roll history with the mic. What a pity they are now touring as a fairly poor BLUES band.......

@mankiebob because they didn't really fit into punk, they came through the pub circuit with people like Ian Dury, they were damn good though, and looked well cool in their old suits plus Wilco Johnson had a great slashing guitar style.
