My boy, I derive no pleasure in warning you that you are in extreme danger. Even as we speak, lurking in this room waiting to strike are forces of evil. Every man has possessed of both good and evil. - Dr. Henry Jekyll, The Pagemaster (1994) You've known what I was about each time you drank the formula. - Mr. Edward Hyde, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003)

Dr. Jekyll should have left all his fortune to his butler staff, who had to suffer the brutish antics of Mr. Hyde. Instead he leaves it to a random! 💰

I think it was a wise decision that Jekyll left the fortune to Utterson instead of Hyde because Utterson is a good person and a trustworthy friend of Jekyll. Just my opinion.

Plus, Mr Utterson probably gave some of the money to the staff to help them find other jobs. He is a lawyer who handles money afterall

What I never understand is does Hyde control the transformations or is it random? I also don’t understand how he died
@erickluviano981
2 жыл бұрын
basically , Jekyll needs stronger doses because Hyde is becoming stronger, hence him transforming in broad daylight or going to sleep as Jekyll and waking up as Hyde, he dies from poison,, he commits suicide. basically this is showing that there is no separate entities, humanity doesn't just go from good to evil there's a gray blur in-between and ultimately Jekyll decides to end it all before he sees Hyde become the dominant side ( the winning side)

@@erickluviano981 oh ok I was confused cause when he woke up as Hyde, Hyde didn’t even seem like he wanted to be out yet so that’s why I was thinking it was random

@@domonicsantalucia9002 in the book it’s equally as vague, but that’s basically why he can remember his crimes when he’s hyde, the two identities are becoming mixed and blurred, in the books it’s explained as an imperfection in the material he uses. But it can be seen as then not really being 2 people. They’re one and it’s becoming more apparent. Like two sides to the same coin.

What I want to know is if Hyde sexually assaulted his female victims? Probably had to leave that on the cutting room floor.

Also Jekyll is a lot more morally grey in that he was actually condoning Hyde's crime sprees as it made him feel good. The cartoon also makes Hyde way more evil making him do more murders then he did in the book, that finale murder was actually the only one and that was when Hyde had crossed the line

0:52 Funny how as a kid I had a filter and would not see anything wrong in that scene, and now I look and am like: "holy shit, that's funny, lighthearted depiction of straight up murder in a cartoon!...BADASS" 11:09 Bro died of broken heart, can't believe it 15:49: HERE'S JOHNNY DAMN was it dark! Funny think, Mr Hyde looks a lot like my late uncle, haha. He was an alcoholic and used to say mean stuff to me. Then again his family had to experience violent outbursts and him coming home drunk as hell. Aunt ended up divorcing him, which sent him to various homeless help insitutions until he died several years ago, I think due to some sort of liver complications. He was more tan than green, didn't had huge canines nor red eyes, but other than that Hyde is spitting image of him. It is also very interesting that two years after Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide was published murders that are attributed to infamous London serial killer, Jack the Ripper happened. Another link is the fact that Theatre play based on the book caused one of the actors to become a suspect, because he played transformation and part of Mr. Hide so well people thought it's to authentic to be just an act. So silly. Anyway, yeah, cartoons better than than now. Current 20s so dull.

It's insanity to think that man, himself, can do the job of the One and Only True Living God! Scientist OFTEN try to play God. Messing and mixing things they dont have any buisness messing with like genes, DNA, and what have you. The "wisdom" of man is pure foolishness if you do NOT have God as your guide. There is satan and there is God(who came in the name of Jesus Christ). Mankind will NEVER have the ability to STOP their sinful(evil) nature UNLESS they hear the word of God and have faith in the gospel of their salvation AND receive God into their lives. It is then, God who saves the soul of man and rebirths his spirit into being a child of God. It is GOD who SAVES man from his wrecked self. What is the gospel of your salvation? -Jesus Christ is God manifested in the form of man who came to earth to live without sin. -Every person has died, because they had sinned. So the cost of sin is death. Jesus lived without sinning, and he clothed Himself with the sins of EVERY man that ever lived. -Jesus died on the cross, was buried, and rose up from the dead. -ALL who believe in this gospel IS SAVED unto eternal life! It is the blood of Jesus that keeps you clean and perfect(spiritually) before God until the day of redemption(the rapture)

interesting thought but I do believe you can save yourself from your darker self by understanding yourself better, as both a psychology student and a catholic, I believe science isn't all bad as its god who made science,...therefore there are still some things we can control and the shadow we all keep in our subconscious can be tamed if we learn to understand that which we casually ignore.
